RE: The Bus Ride: A Test in Guise
Honestly, this story hit home. Lagos is a busy, survivalist place—everyone's out to gain something from you, so you always have your guard up. Crime rates keep you vigilant too. Places like Ajah, Yaba, Computer Village, and Ajegunle are especially chaotic; you have to watch your back constantly. But your experience reminds me that even in all that hustle, character still matters. That Chairman could have easily been someone you brushed off, but your kindness (and your filter!) saved you. Lagos trains you to be sharp, but it also tests your heart. Glad it worked out for you—I can definitely relate!
He will survive especially because it is fiction still I do hope he has the job and graduated school and the stolen meat did taste.
When exactly did you eat it @dreeyor?
This is actually a made-up story (since I'm still a student), but let's just go with it.
It was a dark and lovely morning—5 a.m. I had my shoes polished and everything set. I picked up some papers I had prepared and memorized solely for this interview.
My mum had gotten up early to prepare food, making sure to serve me well—but you know how it is. When you see a lot of meat in the pot, you never get satisfied. I just took a little of two chicken laps and did some "bone deliverance," though I eventually ate the bones anyway 😂.
And when exactly do you reckon you’ll be able to come home, given the amount of meat you’ve polished off? Since you’ve eaten the bones as well, you’ve at least got enough calcium to keep your own bones strong. You do realise there’s a good chance you’ll get a proper thrashing, don’t you? And saying it wasn’t you won’t help, because the grease is still smeared round your mouth.
And better do not burp!
Btw how is the study going?
Of course, the thrashing's inevitable no matter what trick I play, but I'd just have to bet she'll take it easy on me. You know, I just got a job.
Still, I'm sure I won't rest well 'cause of the fear of seeing my mum looking like John Wick behind my door saying:
"I counted that meat, and two are missing. So tell me how you want to die—belt or slippers?" 😂
Study's been fine. We're on summer break now, so I'm making sure to enjoy Mum's cooking before school resumes 😁.
Just for your information .....
Boy, you stole two pieces meaning there's no 'or' it will be the belt while keeping the slippers on and next the slippers...or the other way round.
Before that you have to buy new ones, clean the house... You dug your own grave!
First of September the trimester starts again?
Better go for the vegetarian diet for the time being. Mom's are smart.
❤️🍀
Haha, the painful part is that Nigerian mums have those long turning sticks — and that's more than enough for a quick brain reset. You'll literally start begging angels to save you a seat in heaven before it even lands! 😂
We won't be resuming tomorrow though, because the freshers haven't received their admissions yet — but it's definitely September we're resuming. (Unless an unexpected miracle make them extend it)
At least this means you are raised well and don't dare to respect her.
If you start later you should catch up but hey this means you write a story, fiction. And post in Dream Steem. Do not forget to make me laugh.
Btw this doesn't mean I want to get rid of you but I would like to try to save this community and wipe out the trash with some good fiction, long or short, and poetry.
It is up to you....
Okay, I'll start thinking of what next to write about in dream steem.
This booming vote is yours and well deserved. You keep the chat alive and it still makes me laugh.
❤️🍀
Well done...I look forward to meet your mom.
That's Lagos for you.
You can never be too careful when you're traveling but still there's not much travel where you don't see one drama or the other😂
