Sometimes I feel embarrassed about the education I received in high school, because I studied English from seventh grade all the way through university, yet I’m unable to communicate acceptably in the language.
I remember a Steemit user who, while applying for a curator position, listed the languages he had mastered: English, Russian, and Urdu. I couldn't help but laugh, because the guy is Venezuelan. Reading his bio, I wondered: Does he master those languages with a translator or without one? Hahaha.
Well, maybe he really is a polyglot—unlike me; without a translator, I’m left speechless, hehe.

Thank you for sharing @solperez. I feel it is tough learning language (although some people say it is easy 🤪) Maybe like the guy who knows English, Russian or Urdu. But my thought would be this guy is a mix of English, Russian and Indian? Language, I feel if we don't speak them daily, it is not easy learning theory.
I remembered when I studied English in school, I had a tutor when I was 8. One day, I tried to tell the tutor a story in English. I was really excited telling the story. But after more than 10 minutes of talking, the tutor looked at me blankly and said she didn't understand a word I said. After that, I felt really embarrassed and was determined to learn to speak in English. I participated in dramas, speaking competitions, watched English dramas and repeated after them, and learnt all the way until today.
As long as we keep practicing, I think we can improve a bit a bit. I am learning Chinese, Korean, Spanish on Duolingo. It is not easy 😅

Quizás sea como esa persona que sabe inglés, ruso o urdu; uno podría pensar que esa persona es una mezcla de inglés, ruso e indio, ¿verdad? Siento que, si no los hablamos a diario, no es fácil aprender solo la teoría.
Recuerdo cuando estudiaba inglés en la escuela; tenía un tutor particular cuando tenía 8 años. Un día, intenté contarle una historia en inglés. Estaba muy entusiasmado mientras la contaba, pero tras más de diez minutos hablando, el tutor me miró con cara de desconcierto y dijo que no había entendido ni una palabra de lo que había dicho. Aquello me hizo sentir mucha vergüenza, pero también me motivó a aprender a hablar inglés. Participé en obras de teatro y concursos de oratoria, vi series en inglés repitiendo lo que decían los actores, y he seguido aprendiendo hasta el día de hoy.
