You’ve really captured the atmosphere in the underground car park, mouldy air and all, but that girl makes me feel uneasy. I suspect that in many cases this is already the reality, just like the fact that people’s brains – if not brainwashed – are being hacked.
A person shouldn’t have to think too much. It doesn’t look or feel all that rosy, including the mistrust. Is mould the only ‘plant’ still alive?

As for your question about the plants... that is a brilliant observation! Let's just say that real, vibrant green plants are a priceless luxury only the ultra-rich top-tier elites can afford. Down in the metal and concrete slums, mold is pretty much the only 'nature' the lower class gets to see.
P.S. Good catch on the beard! 😂 When you are running for your life in the network abyss, finding a razor is definitely at the bottom of the priority list!

Just to come back to the beard for a moment: Let’s see… Humans have evolved and haven’t been cave dwellers for a long time now. Over the centuries, there has been a significant loss of body hair, and in certain cultures we are thankfully free from it, so I can imagine that beards (which are also a form of body hair) no longer exist. All that wiring will probably contribute to that as well.
AI must also should keep the characters’ appearances somewhat consistent. Or are they all chameleons as well? Incidentally, I also had issues with the consistent appearance of my dragon characters when I was looking for images poetry stories. What works for a prompt one time, doesn’t work the next.

So someone is still growing plants in that world and breeding cattle and cooking I assume, because I don’t see the bored rich doing that.
Such a life doesn’t appeal to me. I suspect that everyone with allergies has already died out, as have the cold-sensitive among us and those with a great smell.
I have mixed feelings about replacing limbs and organs with technology.
I don’t want a donor organ, I don’t want blood transfusions, and I don’t want to be a donor either.
One day we’ll be done and all die, early or later. I don’t find eternal (miserable) life appealing; the same goes for having to fight eternally just to stay alive, to survive, constantly looking over my shoulder, the struggle to pay bills for expenses that were never mine or for my own pleasure.
I suppose we’ve already reached the time when every child comes from an artificial womb (book: Brave New World) and is assigned to a particular slave class.
Now the question arises: if the plebs/lower class or in this case most likely the free humans have nothing and are perpetually on the run, how do they get hold of the necessary spare parts and equipment…

I believe we’re already living in an age where many of these things are a reality, from pacemakers to implanted monitors, 5G, 6G, and the phone and car that lecture you, spy on you and report what you’re doing and where you are. Not to mention all those anonymous phone numbers we have to complain about neighbours, friends and strangers and of course, the many arrests as a result of what people say (in discussions) on social media.
The good news is: We can no longer be kidnapped by a taxi driver, but we can be by a self-driving taxi. 🤣
The police don’t even turn up here anymore; reports are being thrown out en masse, so…
Perhaps the advantage is that there’s no rent to pay?

In the story, the biomechanical overwrite from the "black book" is definitely altering his physical hardware. But off-screen, as a creator running local AI generation workflows, maintaining character consistency is a massive battle! Even with node-based tools and face-locking adapters, the AI always wants to hallucinate new details. I completely feel your pain with the dragon characters—what works perfectly on Monday suddenly generates a completely different creature on Tuesday!
You asked some brilliant world-building questions. The lower classes definitely don't buy spare parts at a shiny store—they scavenge, strip dead machines, and rely on underground black markets. And you are spot on about the agriculture: the wealthy aren't getting their hands dirty. There are massive, automated hydroponic sectors and synthetic protein vats, maintained by those exact "slave classes" you perfectly compared to Brave New World.

AI is nasty and stubborn, if it acts like that it is better to ask for a different picture first otherwise it keeps presenting the same and prompts given are ignored. It also has a huge problem with looks. If I see picture I saw them all.
If a picture is good, it is better to ask the same in 30 different ways and store unless it ignores the given prompts.
Today they said in the news that more and more student usebAI. The only good news is that their scores are lower than those using their brain.
The IQ of thebaveragevpeeson isn't high since AI can't even reach that level, kind of sad or should I say: it says a lot about human kind.
No need for the mad cow disease to eat our brain and if it might no longer be such a loss.

I don’t know why ‘Hitman’, but I reckon it suits me, hahaha – or maybe I’m a bit of a spy sometimes – but in any case, I wouldn’t join the army; that’s what I used to think as a teenager, just like becoming a road mender.
