Yesterday, while leaving the capital Dhaka for my hometown Comilla, I had to face a terrible traffic jam in front of Tikatuli bus station. We all know about the traffic jams in Dhaka city, but seeing the cars stuck in the same place for a long time with our own eyes makes the seriousness of the problem even better. I was stuck in the traffic jam for about an hour. I have shown the location of the place below through the Steem-atlas pin code.

After reaching the bus station, I saw buses, private cars, CNGs, motorcycles, rickshaws, and other vehicles on different routes trying to move together. Since the number of vehicles was much higher than the road capacity, the vehicles were not able to move at a normal speed. Some cars were moving forward a little and then stopping for a long time. The traffic jam was increasing as the buses were standing on the side of the road to pick up and drop off passengers.

Due to this traffic jam, my journey to Comilla was a bit slow at the beginning. Looking out the bus window, I saw many people trying to quickly reach their destination on foot. Some were at the office, some were on business, and some were out for their own needs. Many of the people stuck in the traffic jam seemed annoyed and worried. The atmosphere became even more uncomfortable, especially due to the heat and the black smoke from the cars. I got off the bus to go quickly and walked towards the bus station. I feel that Dhaka's traffic jams not only waste time but also increase people's mental stress. Every day, thousands of people lose working hours due to traffic jams. In addition, the environment is also polluted due to excessive fuel consumption and vehicle exhaust. When I leave the office, I worry more about the city's traffic jams because it will be late at night by the time I reach home.

In my opinion, strict enforcement of traffic laws, proper road management, use of designated bus stops, and development of public transportation are essential to reduce traffic congestion. In addition, it is necessary to stop random parking of cars and buses stopping on the road to pick up and drop off passengers. In addition, traffic congestion increases due to hawkers on the side of the road.

The experience of that traffic jam in Tikatuli has proven to me once again that, along with the development of the capital, Dhaka, it is also very important to permanently solve the traffic jam problem. I hope that in the future, the roads of Dhaka city will be more orderly and people will be able to travel from one place to another with ease. People like me returning home from the office will have to suffer from traffic jams.

Traffic is quite heavy in our region during peak hours. Especially on weekdays, when offices, schools, colleges, and businesses are open, the traffic pressure on the roads increases significantly in the morning and afternoon. The large number of buses, CNG vehicles, rickshaws, private cars, and motorcycles causes traffic jams at various places. This takes extra time for people to reach their workplace or destination. On the other hand, the traffic pressure is comparatively less during weekends. The roads are also somewhat empty and normal. Therefore, there is a clear difference between traffic on weekdays and weekends. Traffic congestion is more on weekdays, while traffic congestion is comparatively less on weekends.

The main roads in our area are fairly well maintained. Most of the roads are passable, and there are traffic signals, signboards, and directional signs at various places. However, the problem is that many vehicle drivers do not follow these instructions and traffic laws properly. Some do not use the designated lanes, while many stop their vehicles here and there to pick up and drop off passengers. As a result, despite having good roads, traffic jams and chaos are created. Therefore, everyone needs to be more aware of road management and follow traffic laws.

The condition of traffic signs and traffic lights in our area is fairly good. Analog traffic lights are still being used on some important roads and intersections. Modern digital traffic lights have been installed in some busy areas, which are helping to control traffic. In addition, AI cameras were introduced a few days ago to monitor vehicle violations and traffic control. I think that if these technologies are used properly, it is possible to reduce traffic congestion and increase compliance with traffic laws.

The most common vehicles on the main roads of our region are buses, CNG vehicles, rickshaws, motorcycles, and private cars. Among them, the number of buses and CNG vehicles is relatively high. In addition, the movement of motorcycles and private cars also increases during office and business hours. Trucks, pickups, and covered vans are also seen transporting various goods. During busy times, the traffic pressure on the road increases and sometimes traffic jams occur. However, the traffic pressure is relatively low during holidays.

There is still a lot of room for improvement in our country's driving culture. In my experience, driver negligence and ignorance are among the main causes of road accidents and traffic jams. Many drivers do not properly obey traffic laws, signals, and designated lanes. Some drive at excessive speeds or stop to pick up and drop off passengers. This creates risks for pedestrians and other vehicles. However, it is not right to blame all drivers; many drivers follow the rules and drive responsibly. It is important for drivers to be more aware and responsible to make the roads safer.

I recorded the video from the footover bridge. The cars are moving slowly. After some time, the cars stop. Because of the bus station in front, mainly passengers get on and off. Buses and other cars leave the capital, Dhaka, for the southern region via a main road.
