Diary of Jebassey: A Long Day, A Little Adventure, and a Lot of Patience

Have you experienced days that are tiring from beginning to end, or ones that manage to give you at least one beautiful moment to hold on to?

My day was somewhere in between. It came with a lot of stress and exhaustion, but thankfully, I also had a little adventure before the real struggle began.

After completing my usual chores at home, I got myself ready and made my way to school. ‎I had a screening exercise to attend, and I already knew I had quite a number of things to sort out before getting to the actual screening.

But before I went to get my credentials signed, I decided to visit one of the places in school that has always caught my attention, the crocodile reserve.

I didn't expect to spend much time there, but once I got there, I found myself becoming fascinated by the crocodiles. These creatures were so interesting that I stood a while to watching them.

They were just moving around, resting, and carrying on with their activities in their own way. I had to capture a few pictures because I knew I would want to remember that moment with them.

Looking at them from behind the protective enclosure was quite different from seeing crocodiles in pictures or videos. Seeing them physically, observing their size, movement and appearance, made me appreciate these creatures even more.

At some point, I completely forgot about the screening exercise that was waiting for me. ‎After spending some time at the reserve, it was finally time to attend to the main reason I went to school for.

I began moving from one office to another to get my papers and credentials signed. There were different things to sort out, and I had to keep moving around until everything I needed was properly attended to.

Eventually, I made my way to the screening point. And that was when the real test of patience began.

When I got there, people were already queued up. The line was long, and there were so many people waiting for their turn.

At first, I tried to convince myself that it wouldn't take too long, but I was wrong. The waiting continued, and continued, and continued.

I stood for hours while watching the queue move slowly, and that was very exhausting. ‎There were moments when I wanted everything to be over so I could return home and rest. Six hours is a long time to spend waiting in a queue, especially when you have already spent part of the day moving around and attending to different things.

But I stayed. And eventually after the incredibly long wait, I finally got screened.

‎The relief I felt at that moment was difficult to explain. I was tired, hungry for rest, and just wanted to get away from the whole crowd.

After the screening was finally over, I made my way home. Although, some of my friends were unable to screen and were asked to come back tomorrow.

By the time I got back, I was completely caught up with the tiredness. I took my shower, changed into something comfortable and allowed myself to rest. I didn't have the slightest energy to do much else.

I can't say it was an entirely bad one as I gaze back at my day. Yes, the six-hour wait was stressful, exhausting and something I wouldn't want to experience again anytime soon.

But before all of that happened, I had a peaceful and interesting time at the crocodile reserve. One small enjoyable moment can make a difficult day feel a little lighter.

Not every tiring day is a bad day. Sometimes, there is still something beautiful hidden inside the stress.

As I end today, I can only hope that tomorrow brings something good and better. I wouldn't mind having a much calmer day after the stress I experienced today.

Still, I am grateful that I made it through the day, completed what I went to school for, and even got to enjoy a little adventure along the way. Today was stressful, but I am grateful.
