RE: SLS33-From My kitchen To Your Plate Week#6 Budget Feast [Arroz con pollo y limonada]

Cooking for children can make even a simple meal feel special, and I liked that you made this dish mainly with your children in mind. The chicken and rice already sounds filling, but adding fried plantains gives it that sweet touch that can make the whole plate more exciting. And fresh lemonade from your own lemon tree? That is a nice bonus!

I also enjoyed the way you explained your cooking style. You mentioned that you like the rice somewhere between moist and dry, and then adding the chopped spring onions and cilantro near the end. Those small personal touches are what make homemade food different from simply following a recipe from a book.

One observation is about the ingredient table. You listed prices for 1 kg of several ingredients, but the recipe itself uses smaller amounts, such as only 2 cups of rice and half an onion. It would be clearer to separate the amount purchased from the amount actually used, especially since the challenge focuses on the budget of the meal. I also noticed the post mentions both Venezuelan and Puerto Rican flavor, so keeping the cultural description consistent would avoid a little confusion.

The final plate looks like the kind of food that does not need fancy decoration to make people hungry. 😄 Chicken, rice, plantain, cold lemonade and something sweet afterward—your children definitely had a good reason to finish every bite!

Hi there!

The thing is, they don't sell ingredients by the gram here, so it's better to just buy a whole kilo; that way, you have some left over for another recipe or occasion.

My kids were really happy with this quick, budget-friendly menu—hehe—it was delicious, and it looks great in the video.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment. Have a great day!
