Picture of the Day // 17-09-26
My fellow Steemian’s
I took this picture inside a steel industrial area. As an expert in steel production I know it involves melting, heating, fuel combustion, & handling raw materials. This processes can release PM2.5, PM10, CO, Nox, Sox, metal fumes & other pollutants. Worker & general people int his area breathe this air every day.
Fine particles can penetrate deep into the lungs, while CO reduces oxygen supply to the body. NOx & SOx can irritate the respiratory system & long term exposure to polluted air can increase the risk of serious lung & cardiovascular problems. Industrial pollution can also affect plants, soil, water & the surrounding environment.
Air pollution from industrial activities does not remain within one area or one city or one country. It spreads through the atmosphere, contributes to climate change, & environmental degradation, affects ecosystems, & increase health risks for people around the world.
Production is important, But the health of the people who work here is equally important. Better ventilation, emission control, regular monitoring & proper protective equipment can help to reduce the damage.
Thanks.
