Contest: Days of November

Was October what I expected?

Honestly, October didn't go exactly as I had planned. I had quite a number of expectations and goals for the month. One of my major plans was to get a better light for my photography, complete several outstanding jobs and edit the numerous videos I had on my phone for my personal social media accounts.
I also wanted to meet new people and make significant progress in my photography career.
However, things didn't go as expected. I couldn't get the new photography light because the money I had wasn't complete. I also struggled with procrastination and sometimes felt reluctant to edit the videos I had already filmed.
Despite these setbacks, October wasn't entirely unproductive. I had the opportunity to meet some top photographers, and I also worked on editing projects outside my usual area of expertise. It was a great experience because I got to explore different editing styles and learn things beyond what I'm used to.
Although I didn't achieve everything I set out to accomplish, I appreciate the experiences and opportunities October brought my way.

When I think of November, what's the first thing that comes to mind?

When I think of November, the first thing that comes to mind is preparation for the festive season.
I see November as a month when people begin making arrangements for December. From shopping to stocking up on essential items and making other financial plans, there's usually a lot to prepare for.
One thing I've noticed is that when December arrives, the prices of things tend to increase, and expenses become more difficult to control compared to regular months. This is why many people take advantage of November to do their shopping and make necessary preparations ahead of time.
It's also a period when people create little memories before the year comes to an end.
Personally, November makes me feel motivated rather than excited. One of my major goals this month is to remain consistent with my savings so I won't have to put myself under unnecessary financial pressure when December arrives.

Are there any dates this month that are special to me?

Honestly, I don't have any personally significant dates or special celebrations this month. However, I have a few friends whose birthdays fall in November, and that makes the month somewhat special to me.
It's an opportunity to celebrate people I care about, spend time together and create beautiful memories.
We also have plans for a get-together on the 24th of November, which is something I look forward to.
So, even though I don't have a personal celebration this month, having friends to celebrate and share moments with gives November a special meaning.

Do I have expectations, goals or plans for November?

Yes, I have quite a number of expectations and plans for November

First, I want to achieve something I couldn't accomplish in October, which is getting a better light for my photography work.
Secondly, I want to meet new content creators and established photographers. I believe there's so much to learn from people who have gone further in their respective fields.
More importantly, I want to build valuable connections with people who can help take my career to the next level.
Looking back at the past few months and even years, I think I've spent so much time working hard without necessarily working smart. I've handled several jobs and put in a lot of effort, but I haven't built as many valuable professional connections as I would have loved to.
This month, I want to change that narrative. I want to meet people who can broaden my network, expose me to bigger opportunities and potentially bring more deals my way.
For me, November isn't just about doing more work; it's also about positioning myself for better opportunities.

What dream, goal or resolution haven't I achieved yet that I'd like to make a reality before the new year?

First, I still want to acquire a better photography light. It's something I've wanted for a while, and I would love to make it happen before the year ends.
Secondly, I want to connect with highly connected photographers and clients. I believe having the right people around me can create opportunities that will help me grow professionally.
Lastly, I would love to secure photography jobs outside my state and, if possible, outside Nigeria. I've always wanted to expand my reach, experience new environments and work with different people.
These are some of the things I'm hoping to achieve within the remaining two months of 2026.
Ultimately, I want to end the year knowing that I've made meaningful progress, not just in the number of jobs I've handled but also in the quality of opportunities and connections I've been able to establish.

What a thoughtful, honest, and reflective entry for the "Days of November" contest, @davidmarkgeorge! 📸✨

It takes a lot of self-awareness to look back at October and acknowledge where things fell short without getting discouraged. The shift in mindset you mentioned moving from just working hard to working smart and focusing on building strong professional connections is huge! Networking with top creators and positioning yourself for bigger opportunities will open far more doors than just grinding alone.

That photography light will definitely come at the right time, and your strategy to save consistently in November ahead of the December rush is super wise. I'm rooting for you to hit all your goals before 2026 comes to a close including those out-of-state and international photography gigs! 🌍🚀

Enjoy the birthday celebrations and the get-together with your friends on the 24th! Wishing you a highly productive, connected, and blessed November! 🙏✨
