Contest: A new chance: If I could have my wedding day back again
Assalamu'alaikum everyone.
I am @bimanakhan from #Bangladesh
Hello friends. How is everyone? I hope that by the grace of Allah, you are all doing very well.Alhamdulillah, I am doing great too. As always, I am here to participate in a contest. Today’s topic is quite fascinating, and I felt that after a long time, the moment had finally arrived to express a wish I had kept to myself.
There are days in life that remain etched in memory even after many years. Some memories from those days are beautiful, while others leave a sense of incompleteness. Time passes and life changes significantly, yet a question occasionally lingers in the mind: "If only I could get that day back!"
For me, one such day is my wedding day. Every girl harbors dreams about her wedding day, and I was no exception; I had many dreams for mine. Some were fulfilled, while others could not be realized due to circumstances.
My wedding took place on September 10, 2021. I had specific dreams for the occasion nothing extravagant, but I had wanted to curate the day beautifully, just the way I envisioned. I wanted to create beautiful memories involving the Gaye Holud turmeric ceremony, Mehndi henna ceremony, the wedding gate, lighting, and photography memories that, even years later, would make me think, "Yes, my wedding day was truly beautiful."
The Gaye Holud ceremony took place the day before the wedding, and I even had a photoshoot done. But to be honest, neither the styling for the Gaye Holud nor the photoshoot turned out exactly the way I had hoped. While there are some photos and memories, the reality didn't quite match the vision I had in my imagination. I applied the wedding Mehndi myself; I had wanted to hold a proper Mehndi ceremony as well, but that didn't happen.
On the wedding day itself, however, I had a beautiful makeover at a salon, and the day held a unique joy of its own. Yet, a sense of incompleteness still lingers in my heart. I had wanted our wedding photoshoot to be even more beautiful; I wanted to create more memories and cherish special moments with my husband, and I wished for the wedding itself to be more organized and grand. I had many little dreams beautifully decorated wedding gates, ambient lighting, a separate Mehendi ceremony, a lovely photoshoot during the Gaye Holud turmeric ceremony, and a comprehensive photoshoot on the wedding day.
But the circumstances were beyond our control.
It was a time of uncertainty following the pandemic. Our wedding took place just as things were returning to normal after a long lockdown. However, even then, large gatherings attracted scrutiny and trouble from the authorities. So, despite my wishes, I couldn't plan everything exactly as I had envisioned; many things had to be scaled back due to the situation.
Even today, when I look at our wedding photos, I feel a sense of joy, but a thought also crosses my mind: "If only I could relive that day!"
If I were truly given a fresh chance, I would still choose to marry the same person I would simply plan the day differently. This time, I might choose a beautiful look for the Gaye Holud, set aside a separate time for the Mehendi ceremony, decorate the wedding gate to my own taste, and arrange for lovely lighting. Above all, I would pay extra attention to the photoshoot. After all, the wedding ceremony eventually ends, but the photographs allow us to revisit and relive that day.
Perhaps not everything in life goes according to plan; sometimes, circumstances alter our intentions. That is exactly what happened in my case. Yet, the memories of that day remain incredibly precious to me.
So, if I were truly given the opportunity to go back to that day, I wouldn't want to change any past decisions. I would simply want to celebrate that same wedding day all over again, exactly the way I had always dreamed. Because some things in life remain incomplete, and it is precisely those unfulfilled moments that sometimes make one think
“If I had another chance, I would do it exactly my own way this time.”
Time truly cannot be turned back. That day September 10, 2021 will never return. Yet, the memories of that day remain with me. And perhaps that is the beautiful side of life: even when things aren't perfect, certain days stay with us forever.
That new opportunity for me would be the same person, the same love, just a wedding day arranged a little more beautifully.
Thank you so much for organizing such a wonderful contest. It gave me the chance to express my wish. Thank you all, and take care. Allah Hafiz.

Hello @bimanakhan, it was amazing reading your lovely reflections about the day of your wedding. I can feel the amount of time and effort you have put into visualizing each aspect of that day, from Gaye Holud and Mehndi ceremony to the decorations, lighting and photography. It is clear why some of your expectations have not been fulfilled because of the challenging situation caused by the pandemic and limitations on gathering people. The thing which affected me the most was your attitude towards the whole situation: despite everything that happened, you would choose the same person again. It is a proof that what really matters in marriage is not the decorations or grandeur of the celebration but the feelings you share. In addition, I totally agree with you when you say that photographs become valuable since they help us go back to memorable moments which already passed. Your post is a nice example that a day should not be ideal to turn into a memorable one.
