You're indeed a father and an affectionate one at that, this is me looking beyond the subject matter which revolves around pet into some special character that you possess.

Your sensitivity to the well being of not only your children but to other living things like pet is commendable. It justifies the reason why you had to avoid owning one since you do not have adequate budget for it at some point.

The part that got me very emotionally was how "Hunter" became a member of the family, it was heartwarming, I could picture the way your child had to plead to convince you to have hunter live with the family, the interesting part for me was how Hunter itself came begging to be accepted....lols.
