RE: How Technology Can Connect Millions of People Yet Still Make Us Feel Isolated

in #life • 24 days ago

The urge to control the uncontrollable stems from a psychological need for safety and certainty. Faced with an unpredictable world, the human brain perceives uncertainty as a direct threat. Attempting to control outcomes, people, or future events provides a temporary illusion of security, easing underlying anxiety and making the chaotic feel manageable.
However, overreaching control creates an exhausting paradox. The harder we try to dictate circumstances outside our influence, the more helpless and stressed we become. This struggle drains cognitive energy, trapping us in perpetual frustration when reality refuses to align with our demands.
Ultimately, peace is not achieved by mastering every outcome. True emotional freedom begins with recognizing our limits, releasing the impossible, and focusing solely on our own responses.
