Cow decides to go for a walk on the highway
I found a story from Maryland that doesn't involve the lottery! And since this story has a happy ending there is nothing to worry about.

It's hard to tell from the low quality image but it appears as though a dog might have gone along for the trip! I hope so. Dogs looking out for other animals and also humans always make for great news. Much better news than completely made up stories about regular people winning the lottery is anyway.
This made me think about something I read on here recently about someone visiting India in a travel forum and how there are cows on streets on a regular basis and everyone considers them sacred and the cows just get to hang out there until they feel like leaving.
Well, things are handled a little bit different in USA. The State police were dispatched to lead traffic around the cow as it searched for a way off the highway - which isn't always so easy to do since anytime there is a neighborhood the highway has to be inaccessible via fences and what not.
Unlike the lottery stories that are from the same site, this story actually had accountability. The farm, the area, the name of the owner, the officer's name that responded, are all named. It's almost like this thing actually happened! This is the difference between the state "definitely not advertisements" advertisements for the lottery where they give intentionally vague and almost certainly untrue information about some rogue winner of some vast sort of money. This story actually happened.
We probably like to think that the reason such care was taken was probably because we feel so bad for the poor cow but it is really a question of that thing will create a much larger problem if it is struck by a car or truck than the problem is to get it off the highway. I don't know how much you know about the bovine population of the world but they are friggin HEAVY and if you hit one with the car you are likely going to get extreme damage to the car. Not to mention the fact that once this thing dies on the street it's not so easy to remove something that can weight over 1000 lbs.

This one was a considerably smaller one though and I suspect it is a younger cow called a "calf." Police directed traffic around it while the owners of the farm corralled the cow into a trailer and brought it home. Apparently this curious milker found a weak point in a fence and decided to go for a little adventure.
"The one thing about a farm that you can count on is there's always something going on. You just never know, you can't predict animals always what's going to happen next,"
That's a quote from the owner of the ranch and although I haven't spent very much time on farms I did have a friend when I was in grammar school whose grandparents owned a farm with cows and I went to visit with him once. There certainly is a lot going on at those places, all day every day.
I'd kind of like to leave my phone at home one of these days and visit a farm. I took it for granted when I was visiting that one time but what a peaceful way to live!
