Steemit paid creators. Nostr still treats pay as tips.

I used to think Steemit was going to be the next big social network. I made $1,000 in its token in about six months because the platform paid people to write and to recommend good posts. It later failed. The founder left, the company sold, and a coin they kept printing was never going to be Bitcoin.

Nostr already has Bitcoin payments through Lightning. It still treats paying creators as optional tips. That is the missed shot.

You cannot print Bitcoin. You can still build a rewards economy with the Bitcoin you already have: a shared pool, weight for people who find good work, and payouts for work worth repeating. It will not be Steemit. It could still pull serious writing and art onto the network instead of leaving Bitcoin tips as spare change.
