A day in the life : Day 654

Today I came across a couple of AI stories that were more interesting than the usual model announcements. Wipro said its AI work has freed capacity equivalent to around 20,000 employees, with people being moved into other roles. More than 100,000 employees have also received advanced AI training. I find the redeployment part more interesting than the number itself. It suggests companies are still trying to figure out what people should do when machines take over some of the repetitive work.

There is also a bigger development around AI agents and UPI. NPCI is working on a system to identify and monitor AI agents that could eventually make small payments for people. The idea of telling an assistant to handle a routine payment does sound convenient, although I would probably want fairly strict limits before trusting it with my money.

My own problem today was much simpler. I spent a good part of the afternoon looking for a receipt that I needed. I checked drawers, folders and even an old bag. After giving up, I found it tucked inside a book that I had been using recently. I have no idea why I put it there.

The weather was fairly pleasant today. There was some cloud cover, but the rain stayed away for most of the day. I had a lighter lunch and made something warm for dinner. The evenings are starting to feel a little different as the monsoon slowly moves along.

I also spent some time clearing unnecessary emails. There were plenty of old messages that had seemed important when they arrived but had no value now. Deleting them felt surprisingly satisfying.

The day was ordinary, but there was enough going on to keep it interesting. AI is changing how companies work, digital payments may become more automated, and I still cannot remember where I put a receipt five hours ago.

Some problems clearly take longer to solve than others.
