I Finally Registered for NYSC… But It Wasn’t the Victory I Imagined

in #nysc • 18 days ago

I thought registering for NYSC would be one of those moments that felt exciting.

You know…

“Finally! I’m done with university!”

Maybe a little smile. Maybe some pictures. Maybe a quiet feeling of accomplishment.

Instead, I spent a good part of today fighting a server.

Yes.

A server.

The NYSC registration portal decided that today was the perfect day to test my patience.

I tried.

It didn't work.

I tried again.

Still nothing.

I tried multiple times, hoping that the next attempt would magically be the one.

Eventually, it worked.

And honestly, I should have been celebrating at that point.

But my day wasn't done.

By the time I was finally leaving, it was raining.

Not the cute, cinematic kind of rain either.

The kind that makes you look at the sky and wonder what exactly you did to deserve this.

And somehow, after all the stress of the registration, I still had to make my way home in the rain, late at night.

I was tired.

I was frustrated.

And somewhere between trying to stay dry and processing everything that had happened, I started thinking about how funny life is.

We often imagine success as a beautiful moment.

A certificate.

A celebration.

A picture.

A smile.

But sometimes, success looks like standing in the rain after spending hours fighting a website that refuses to cooperate.

Sometimes it looks like being exhausted but still finishing what you started.

Sometimes there is no dramatic soundtrack.

No applause.

Just you, your tired body, and the quiet satisfaction of knowing:

“I finally did it.”

Today wasn't the NYSC registration experience I imagined.

But I registered.

And maybe that's enough to call today a win.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to recover from the emotional and physical battle that was supposed to be a simple registration. 😂

One thing adulthood is teaching me:

Some victories don't look beautiful while you're living them.

But they're still victories.

Good night, Steemit. ❤️
