How do multi-person households reliably track whether a pet has already been fed or walked?
In households where several people share pet responsibilities, it can be difficult to know whether a task was already completed (for example, feeding, walking, or cleaning a litter box), which sometimes leads to missed or duplicated actions.
What reliable methods are commonly used to track completed pet-care tasks across multiple people?
I’m especially interested in practical systems that work consistently (whiteboards, shared apps, checklists, etc.), and any pros/cons people have observed.
Make it impossible to ignore. A dry erase board on the kitchen cabinet with a tick for each meal works because everyone sees it right where the food lives.
For our household, the whiteboard worked until someone forgot to check it. We switched to a shared app, and I use https://patikoko.com with my partner. It logs feeds and walks in real time, so there is no doubt about who did what. Reminders help too. The free version is enough for us.
