Update on the Guacamole Farm
The amazing avocado tree that never should have been. This is an update on the tree that was dead and dried up in a pile of old pots. Then found and watered.

I have never seen an avocado flower. I am hoping that this is one of them coming out as we head into springtime in the other great "Down Under"
So what's new with the avocado tree and the little baby brother?

You can see the baby brother off to the left, right next to the shelving filled with carnivorous plants.
These are what's new.

I so hope that these are flower buds. Trees of this kind are supposed to produce fruit starting in their third year. The bigger tree is going on six years old, not counting the years it was thought to be dead.
And they are happening on Baby Brother too.

His flowers are happening at the top and seem to be more vertical growth than lovely Guacamole ingredients.

But as I move around the tree and start taking pictures of these same alleged flowers in a more mature state, it looks like they're just branches with more leaves.
The old and the new
I have learned that the leaves of an avocado tree are sensitive. As this tree grew, and I really do love and care for it, I noticed that if I did not keep it away from the wall, all the leaves that brush up against it would brown simply for having touched the stucco wall.

I think the same thing might be happening when the tree gets too full and the leaves start crashing into each other too. I am not sure, but there are a lot of damaged leaves.
When I planted the avocado seed, I went from imagining picking fresh fruit from it to watching the three leaves it had wilting. Then they fell off and it was just a stick with roots. This is the sixth year now since bringing it back to life.

It's come a long way and is actually turning into a tree. And I have the biggest pot I could buy at the time, but one day I will have to repot it again. And I'm pretty good at those things. I imagine it will take three of us to lift the entire pot into a new pot and then cut away the old smaller pot as I always do with the smaller plants.
It's not the tallest tree in my terrace. The tallest one is about ten feet. This one is about seven feet tall. My son is 6'3" and we were commenting on how the tree passed him up.
