"Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that
it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six
months."
James 5:17 (NKJV)

In the above passage of the Bible, the power of prayer is being talked about: “ELIJAH WAS A MAN WITH A NATURE LIKE OURS, AND HE PRAYED EARNESTLY THAT IT WOULD NOT RAIN; AND IT DID NOT RAIN ON THE LAND FOR THREE YEARS AND SIX MONTHS” (James 5:17 NKJV).

The word "with a nature like ours" thus means Elijah was a man like any other human being. If Elijah through prayer could hold or stop the rain for three years, it means it can be done by any other believer. It means any believer in Christ Jesus can do the same because God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34).

There is power in prayer, someone says it is the strongest weapon in the world. And there is no distance in the realm of the spirit, you can be in Africa and be praying to affect someone in Europe or effect a change in any part of the world.

As a believer, you should understand that life is spiritual. Whatever is seen in the physical realm had already taken place in the spiritual realm. Thus, whatever you want to happen in the physical realm had to be gotten in the spiritual realm, and that is through prayer.

When you pray as a believer in Christ Jesus, angels are moved into actions to effect or bring to pass what you have declared or requested in your prayer (Hebrews 1:14). In addition to that, as angels or ministering spirits do minister or respond to the prayer of believers,
demons, evil spirits, are meant to move or do whatever they are commanded or bidden to do as a believer prays in the name of Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:18; Luke 10:19).

The weapon of prayer is a strong weapon that is given to believers,
through it, we communicate with God (1 Corinthians 14:2) and exercise the authority given to us in Christ Jesus, over all the power of the enemy, the devil—the adversary (Luke 10:19).

If Elijah could stop rain through prayer, you also can do the same (1 Kings 17:1). In other words, through prayer you can get whatever the Will of God about your life established. A change can be effected in every situation through prayers.

Pay attention to your prayer life. A lot of believers are lazy in prayer. And also, you should be a student of the word of God, the Bible. The understanding of the word of God makes you effective in prayer, you would know what to ask and what not to ask. In other words, you will be able to pray aright!

Thus, pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

Peace.
