LET BOTH GROW TOGETHER

“Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, ‘First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.’”
Matthew 13:30 (NKJV)

The parable is about a man who sows good seed in his field (Matthew 13:24). But while men slept, the enemy, the devil, came to sow tares among the wheat (Matthew 13:25). However, when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared (Matthew 13:26). The servants of the owner wanted to gather up the tares but the owner said they should allow both the wheat and tares grow together, lest they mistakenly uproot the wheat why uprooting the tares.
In verse 36 to 43 where the parable is expatiated, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, believers in Christ; whilst the tares are the sons of the wicked one, the unbelievers—the wicked one is the devil (Matthew
13:38). The field where the seeds and tares were sown is the world (Matthew 13:38). The believers are scattered all over the world, likewise the sons of the wicked one, the unbelievers.
These believers, which are good seeds, gathered together to fellowship but there used to be the mixed multitude
among the good seeds, the genuine believers.
This shows us that the church that supposed to be the full representation of the body of Christ is not completely clean, there are still the representation of the sons of the wicked one, the devil.
Thus, the statement, let both grow together until the harvest (Matthew 13:30). It is this reason, let both grow
together until the harvest, that the mixed multitude which the church is having are permitted to do a number
of things they are doing and it seems God is not doing anything about whatever they are doing.
It is not that God is not aware about the evil they are doing, but He is longsuffering, giving them the opportunity to repent and change, but their judgement will come at the
appropriate time if they changed not:
4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that
the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
6 who “will render to each one according to his deeds”:
7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;
8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath,
9 tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek.”
