THE HELP OF MAN IS USELESS
SATURDAY 12
“Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless.”
Psalm 108:12 (NKJV)

In our text, David the Psalmist was asking for God’s help. He wants God to give them help from trouble, because the help of man is useless. At times, I look at how some people usually regard the words of man.
Someone may promise to help or assist them concerning a particular need in their life, and they will put all their hope and trust in what the person has said or told them.
A young man
Several years ago, a young man, who was attending the church I was pastoring, told me about one uncle of his who promised to help him; either in helping him to get a job or helping him financially.
I told him, based on what he told me about the man, and with the way I was seeing things transpiring between
them; I told him the man will not help him, he was just dribbling him. The young man could not believe and agree with what I said. Then I kept quiet, and I was watching.
At the end, after several months of going after the man, nothing came out of it. The young man was also able to see what I was telling him.
The help of man is useless. Your hope should not be on any man. May be you should imbibe this idea; if anyone
promises to do anything for you, help or assist in whatever way, just have it in your mind that if God wants to use
him, he would be allowed to do it.
As a believer in Christ Jesus, whoever would not allow God’s glory to be given to Him in the matters of your life
would not be allowed to help you. Whoever would vaunt and boast about whatever he did for you would not be
enabled or given the privilege or opportunity of helping you.
Thus, do not raise your hope on whatever is promised by anyone. Either being helped out of a predicament or
trouble, or the help to meet a particular need in your life, just know that the help of man is useless.
Raising your hope on what someone promises to do is useless. Your focus should solely be on God (Psalm 122:1).
If your focus or gaze is shifted from God to any mortal man, God may allow you to be disappointed (Isaiah 31:1).
Vain and useless is the help of man indeed!
NOTE It does not mean you cannot be helped by other people, but the point being made is that your trust and hope should not be on whoever to be used
but on God.
Whichever way God is going to help you, it would still be through a human being, but your hope, trust, and gaze should not be shifted from God to the person or people who you are expecting the help from.
