WHEN YOU ARE SENT ON AN ASSIGNMENT BY GOD
“I HAVE SURELY SEEN THE OPPRESSION OF MY PEOPLE WHO ARE IN EGYPT; I have heard their groaning and have come down to deliver them. And now come, I WILL SEND YOU TO EGYPT.”’ “
Acts 7:34 (NKJV)
Moses was eventually sent for the assignment, to deliver his people, but it was done after forty years when he had already lost confidence in his own ability. When God eventually came to call Moses, he was no longer enthusiastic about it, he was hesitant to go, he no longer had courage in the self; his own ability or power—human or physical strength (Exodus 2:11-14; Acts 7:22-27). Whatever you are able to accomplish with your own ability or physical strength, be sure, God is not involved in it. God would not need your help or support to do whatever He wanted to do.
If you relied on your own ability, God would not be able to use you. And if you secretly in your heart think of receiving help from anyone or any source apart from the one initiated by God, you
would be considered unqualified for the assignment.
Note: this teaching does not mean you would not need humans in fulfilling your assignment. It does mean that you would have to put your trust in God, look up to Him for the help needed, and trust Him to choose whoever He wanted for the execution of the assignment. All He wanted from you is your cooperation, submission and obedience to the instructions and commands He gave to you. The help should come from God, and from Him alone (Psalm 121:1).
God does not want any of His children, believers in Christ Jesus, to live independently of Him. He would not want your gaze to be shifted from Him to any other person or thing. He would want you to trust and depend on Him for whatever you need:
5 JESUS SENT OUT THE TWELVE APOSTLES WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS . . . . 9 “DON'T TAKE ANY MONEY IN YOUR MONEY BELTS—NO GOLD, SILVER, OR EVEN COPPER COINS. 10 DON'T CARRY A TRAVELER'S BAG WITH A CHANGE OF CLOTHES AND SANDALS OR EVEN A WALKING STICK. DON'T HESITATE TO ACCEPT HOSPITALITY, BECAUSE THOSE WHO WORK DESERVE TO BE FED" (Matthew 10:9,10 NLT).
