WISDOM THAT IS FROM ABOVE
"But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle,
willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and
without hypocrisy."
James 3:17 (NKJV)
In contrast to what Apostle James was sharing before this verse, the wisdom that comes from above, God, is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits,
without partiality and without hypocrisy (James 3:17).
The attributes mentioned or listed in this passage are the virtues or attributes of godly wisdom. Any wisdom that is exhibited which does not have these attributes or virtues is not of God.
Any wisdom that partial and hypocritical, such is not from God,
because it is not consistent with the attributes of God. Such a wisdom
is not from above!
What many believers call wisdom today is the wisdom of the world—worldly wisdom. Such wisdom is sensual and demonic (James 3:15).
You would need to see how some believers, even ministers, lie without
any remorse, even justifying themselves with the Bible. Some even call it diplomacy, saying, they are being diplomatic about the matter; whereas deception and underhandedness is being displayed or demonstrated.
Why would a believer or minister be lying, calling it diplomacy? (Ephesians 4:25; Colossians 3:9)
They would say they are applying wisdom to the matter, but it is all
about deception and lying. This is what James call worldly wisdom which is sensual and demonic (James 3:15).
Note:
If you live by worldly wisdom and not that of God, you are indirectly telling God that you are sufficient of yourself (2 Corinthians 3:5). That God's contributions would not be needed in the matters of your life.
Some believers have schemed God out of the programmes of their lives through worldly wisdom.
They do not regard or acknowledge the presence of the Holy Spirit on
the inside of them; they scheme, plan, and strategize in whatever they
want to do. They are not being led by the Holy Spirit in all their doings, because they do not trust in His wisdom (Romans 8:14).
If you live your life as being expatiated here, do not be surprised, if you found yourself in a mess and called on God, you may not receive any answer from Him:
24 BECAUSE I HAVE CALLED AND YOU REFUSED, I HAVE STRETCHED OUT MY HAND AND NO ONE REGARDED,
25 BECAUSE YOU DISDAINED ALL MY COUNSEL, AND WOULD HAVE NONE OF MY REBUKE,
26 I ALSO WILL LAUGH AT YOUR CALAMITY; I WILL MOCK WHEN YOUR TERROR COMES,
27 When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.
28 “THEN THEY WILL CALL ON ME, BUT I WILL NOT ANSWER; THEY WILL SEEK ME DILIGENTLY, BUT THEY WILL NOT FIND ME.
29 BECAUSE THEY HATED KNOWLEDGE AND DID NOT CHOOSE THE FEAR OF THE LORD" (Proverbs 1:24-29 NKJV).
