1. Main Causes of Waterlogging
   Blocked Drainage System: The accumulation of plastic, trash, and debris in drains and sewage lines prevents rainwater from flowing away efficiently.

Unplanned Urbanization: The expansion of concrete and asphalt roads significantly diminishes the ground's natural capacity to absorb rainwater (groundwater recharge).

Encroachment on Water Bodies: Illegal construction over ponds, lakes, and natural water channels has obstructed traditional drainage paths.

Inadequate Civic Management: A lack of timely cleaning of drains before the monsoon, combined with the failure of pumping stations to function properly, is a major contributing factor.

1. Severe Consequences
   Traffic Disruption: Water accumulation on roads causes vehicles to break down, leads to long traffic jams, and severely hinders movement.

Health and Hygiene Issues: Stagnant water becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes, facilitating the spread of diseases such as dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. Furthermore, contact with contaminated water can lead to skin infections and waterborne diseases like cholera.

Economic Loss: Water entering shops, homes, and offices causes extensive damage to valuable goods and electronic equipment. It also adversely affects the livelihoods of daily wage workers and small-scale shopkeepers.
