An analysis of STEEM's spectacular price movement, trading volume, market capitalization and the key levels I am watching.

Hello Steemians,

What a day for STEEM!

When I opened CoinMarketCap this morning to check the market, one thing immediately caught my attention: STEEM was up around 70% in just 24 hours.

At the time I took my screenshot, STEEM was trading at approximately $0.07929, while only hours earlier the price had been moving around $0.046–$0.047.

My CoinMarketCap screenshot taken during the STEEM rally. The price was around $0.07929, with STEEM gaining approximately 70% over 24 hours.

As a Steemian, seeing such a large green movement is obviously exciting.

But instead of simply looking at that impressive +70%, I wanted to understand what might actually be happening behind this move.

And after looking at the numbers, there is one figure that caught my attention even more than the price increase itself:

the trading volume.

An extremely fast price movement

Looking at the 24-hour chart, the movement is quite remarkable.

STEEM initially traded around $0.046–$0.047, with relatively little volatility.

Then something changed.

The first strong acceleration pushed STEEM toward approximately $0.059.

The price continued climbing toward the $0.070–$0.072 area before another wave of buying pushed it close to $0.084.

At the time of my observation, STEEM was trading around $0.079.

Figure 1: STEEM's 24-hour price movement, from approximately $0.0468 to the $0.08 area.

That is a considerable change in only a few hours.

But looking at the price alone tells only part of the story.

The number that caught my attention: $132.99 million

These were the figures displayed on CoinMarketCap when I took my screenshot:

IndicatorObserved value
STEEM price$0.07929
24h change≈ +70%
Market capitalization≈ $43.09M
24h trading volume≈ $132.99M
Volume increase≈ +3,150%

This is where things become particularly interesting.

STEEM had a market capitalization of approximately $43.09 million, while its reported 24-hour trading volume had reached approximately $132.99 million.

In other words:

$132.99M ÷ $43.09M ≈ 3.1

The 24-hour trading volume was therefore approximately 3.1 times STEEM's entire market capitalization.

Figure 2: comparison between STEEM's market capitalization of approximately $43.09M and its 24-hour trading volume of approximately $132.99M.

For me, this is probably the most interesting number behind the entire rally.

We are not simply looking at a few buyers gradually pushing the price higher.

There has been an extraordinary increase in trading activity around STEEM.

When an asset with a relatively small market capitalization suddenly receives this amount of trading volume, price movements can become extremely fast.

And that can happen in both directions.

Why is STEEM rising so much?

That was obviously the first question I asked myself.

Whenever a cryptocurrency gains almost 70% within a relatively short period, my first instinct is to look for a major announcement.

A new partnership?

A major exchange listing?

An important blockchain update?

A significant announcement from the project?

At the time of writing, however, I have not identified a fundamental announcement large enough to explain this entire price movement on its own.

That makes the sudden increase in trading activity particularly important.

One possible scenario could look something like this:

Figure 3: a possible mechanism behind STEEM's current price acceleration.

A large increase in trading volume creates stronger buying pressure.

The price begins breaking previous resistance levels.

STEEM then starts appearing higher in market rankings and among the strongest-performing cryptocurrencies.

That increased visibility attracts additional traders.

Those traders generate even more volume.

And when this happens to an asset with a relatively modest market capitalization, the movement can accelerate very quickly.

That appears to be at least part of what we are seeing now.

The Korean market is worth watching

Long-time Steemians will probably already know something important about STEEM:

South Korea has historically been an important market for STEEM trading.

For this reason, Korean exchanges and KRW trading pairs are particularly interesting to watch whenever STEEM experiences an unusual increase in volume.

This does not necessarily mean that the entire rally is coming exclusively from South Korea.

However, when STEEM suddenly starts generating very large trading volumes, activity on Asian exchanges is naturally one of the things worth examining.

The important question now is whether this trading volume can remain elevated during the coming hours and days.

Because that could tell us much more about the strength of this movement.

The price levels I am watching now

After such a rapid increase, trying to predict exactly how high STEEM will go would be extremely difficult.

Instead, I prefer to identify a few important price areas and observe how the market reacts around them.

Figure 4: the main STEEM price levels I am watching following the rally.

The first area I am watching is around $0.070–$0.072.

This could potentially become an important short-term support area.

If STEEM manages to consolidate above this zone after such a large rally, that would be interesting to see.

The next important area is approximately $0.080–$0.085.

This is currently the most obvious resistance zone visible from the recent movement.

A convincing break above $0.085, particularly if accompanied by strong trading volume, could represent another important step for the short-term trend.

On the other hand, if STEEM loses the $0.070 area, I would then watch approximately $0.059–$0.060.

That area corresponds to an important stage of the earlier acceleration.

Here is my simple map of the levels:

Price areaWhat I am watching
$0.085Major short-term resistance
$0.080Immediate resistance
$0.070–$0.072Potential support
$0.059–$0.060Important area during a correction
$0.046–$0.047Area before the rally began

These levels are obviously not predictions.

They are simply areas that I personally find interesting when following the market.

Be careful with the excitement

I am a Steemian, so naturally it feels good to see STEEM displaying +70%.

But I also think it is important to remain realistic.

A rally this strong can continue.

It could even move considerably higher than many people currently expect.

But the opposite is also possible.

When an asset moves from approximately $0.046 to almost $0.080 in such a short period, a significant correction would not be unusual.

This is why I am personally more interested in watching trading volume and price consolidation than simply staring at the green percentage on CoinMarketCap.

If STEEM continues moving higher with strong volume and then manages to hold its new price levels, the movement becomes much more interesting.

If the volume suddenly disappears and traders begin taking profits aggressively, the situation could change just as quickly.

But there is something even more interesting for Steem

Beyond trading, I think this rally could also represent an opportunity for our ecosystem.

Because a pump does not only increase the price.

It also creates attention.

Traders who may not have looked at STEEM for several years could suddenly see it appearing among the strongest-performing cryptocurrencies.

Other people may discover STEEM for the first time.

Some will probably buy and sell without ever asking what exists behind the token.

But perhaps a few of them will become curious enough to search:

"What is STEEM?"

And that is where our community becomes important.

Because behind the STEEM ticker, there is actually something.

There is a blockchain.

There is Steemit.

There are communities.

There are content creators.

There are curators.

There are developers.

And most importantly, there are people who continue publishing, commenting, voting and building around this ecosystem every single day.

For me, the best possible outcome of this rally would therefore not simply be seeing:

STEEM = $0.10 or perhaps even higher.

A speculative pump or STEEM waking up again?

At this point, I think it is simply too early to answer that question with confidence.

But the numbers clearly tell us one thing:

something unusual is happening with STEEM's trading activity.

The price increase is spectacular.

But the explosion in trading volume might actually be the more important part of the story.

For that reason, there are three things I will personally continue watching:

the trading volume, STEEM's ability to remain above the $0.070–$0.072 area, and a possible breakout above $0.080–$0.085.

The next few hours and days could be particularly interesting.

Whatever happens next, however, I have to admit one thing:

It is good to see STEEM attracting this much attention again.

What do you think, Steemians?

Now I would really like to hear your opinions.

Do you think we are simply witnessing a short-term speculative pump?

Or could this be the beginning of something much bigger for STEEM?

And most importantly...

How high do you think STEEM can go this time?

I would be very interested to read your analysis in the comments.

My analysis based on the market data observed during STEEM's strong price movement. Prices and trading volumes can change very quickly.

It will be interesting to see how the price holds up...

It will definitely be interesting to see if STEEM can hold these levels.
