Steemit Update [August 30th, 2026] : Community Curators for September

Thank you to all 24 teams who took the time to apply to become Community Curators for September.

September sees the introduction of the new system of three types of Curator - Steem Engagers, Steem Improvers and Theme Curators.

Although a number of applications failed to follow the guidelines correctly, we have managed to select 11 Curators for September.

Curation Guidelines

For the Steem Engagers we want you to find good posts to vote on and start conversations in the comments - both with the post author and other commenters. The conversations have to be real discussions about the content of the posts - so the posts should be chosen wisely.

To encourage good conversations sc01/02 will be giving votes to the comments (both from the Engagers and other commenters) as well as the posts.

For the Steem Improvers we want people to find posts that have interesting content but are let down by poor presentation, weak and repeated photographs, confusing titles, bad use of markdown, spelling mistakes, incorrect grammar etc etc. The Improvers then need to comment with clear and helpful constructive criticism to encourage authors to significantly upgrade their posts.

Posts being reviewed can be from new or old authors alike. Other people are encouraged to add to the Improvers comments as well to further help the authors make their posts better.

To encourage constructive comments sc01/02 will be giving votes on the comments (both from the Improvers and other commenters) as well as the posts.

For the Theme Curators we want teams to seek out the best posts on their chosen subject or theme.

The @steemcurator accounts should only be used for voting and commenting. They should not be used for downvoting or making posts.

A comment should be left on each post voted to let the author know the post has been supported by the curation team - and please include which member of the team selected the post.

How the Curation Teams will be rewarded

Every day the teams will be allowed to allocate one full vote to a team member’s post - ideally in rotation.

Additionally each week one member should post a report for the team in the Steem POD community with a list of their top 7 posts or comments, with a brief note of why each was chosen.

These weekly report posts should set beneficiaries to be shared with other members of the team.

The posts will be voted by @steemcurator01.

We strongly encourage teams to ensure all members review and agree on the merits of the selected posts of the week as poor choices may influence the reward given to the weekly report by @steemcurator01.

September will be a very interesting month for the Community Curator program.

We very much hope the new system will both help to improve the quality of posts on Steem, and help increase engagement. Building more engagement and discussion between members is key to growing a strong and attractive community.

This coming month will very much be an experiment. We welcome any feedback and suggestions.
