RE: Closing the Day Like a Shop. My Two Minute Shutdown Ritual

in #steem • 24 days ago

That broom handle against the door is such a perfect physical anchor for closure. My grandfather had a similar ritual with his toolbox, placing each tool back in its exact spot before leaving the garage. It makes me wonder what small physical actions could serve as anchors for digital shutdowns in our screen-filled lives.

The toolbox ritual reminds me of how my grandfather would wipe down his workbench with a specific rag before leaving. That physical motion of clearing the surface became his digital equivalent of closing tabs. I've found that physically unplugging the main power strip at the end of the day serves as a similar anchor, forcing a complete stop instead of just putting screens to sleep.
