Are you preparing?

Are you preparing for the disaster? As I said in the previous post, I don't want to believe this, and to some extent I don't believe it anymore, after all the inconsistencies and illogicalities in this theory (but is there anything logical in this world anyway?) Yet when the same thing comes as information and opinion from all over the world, when even governments warn about it, then what is that?
Well, of course, not the government of Bulgaria. No, they never warn about anything, they never even inform about anything, why would they do that? But here's news Bulgarian Style - yesterday I read the following in the news on one of the three largest national televisions: "A scientist finds that Doomsday will occur on November 13, 2026". Subtitle: "The end of the world is coming in two weeks according to a study from 1960."

So, here we go too. In our stupid, illogical, postcommunist and communist way. The world is going to end, and the news might announce it in three days. And with a smile - haha, someone said the world has ended.
Like they said a few days later that someone said AI would destroy the world - they turned this news into a joke on the evening news.

Now I wonder if the governments of other countries are warning their populations because they really care about them, because they are human governments in human countries.
And will the government in Bulgaria not warn its population because they are also human - they know that preparing for 3 days will not change anything, will not save anyone - the Pentagon is preparing for three months, not for three days. And the rich people already have their bunkers.
Is this humanity?
No, the Bulgarian government has never been humane towards its people. And the governments of other countries... was there a government that did not harm its people during the covid crisis?

But before you accuse me of believing in conspiracies, let me first explain to you why I'm even concerned with this issue, why I can't just continue living my life ignoring this information.

The truth is that this supposed recent global stalemate is constantly pushing my buttons and I can't ignore it. As I've told you before, I grew up in deprivation and I can't imagine going back there. The thought of childhood, poverty, deprivation, lack of basic living conditions - electricity and water simply terrifies me and I'm currently annoying my partner with the constant - let's buy another can, there's room in the closet for another pack of toilet paper, I want another bottle of mineral water, find me a solar camping lantern on the internet that will last whole night, etc.

There weren't many times in my childhood when I was left without food and hungry, although I remember a few very clearly. Rather, my childhood was marked by deprivation of my favorite foods, the inability to buy many things, constantly buying the cheapest, the inability to buy many and different things, a limited amount of food that always had to be shared equally between several people.
My partner these days knows very well that food is very important to me, that there should be more in the fridge, that there should be supplies in the pantry in general, otherwise I don't feel comfortable, rather I don't feel calm.

So now I don't know where to start, given the information about what awaits us. I don't want to panic, despite my past, despite my memories. That's why I haven't bought many things - just a few cans of fish, corn and beans. I'm still hesitant about canned meat. Because they are not cheap, but they are certainly of low quality at the same time, like much of the food in Bulgaria. I have concerns especially about canned meat. Although, in such situations, if this situation really becomes real - who would think about quality?

Then there's the electricity issue. I grew up with an electricity schedule. Back when the communist government sold electricity abroad to get foreign currency, while keeping its population in the dark. I have a fear of the dark from that period. And I've been sleeping with a lamp on for a long time, so the lack of electricity terrifies me just as much as the lack of food. And because the electricity here, in this country, keeps going out anyway, even without a global disaster, life here is a constant potential nightmare that could happen any day, any night.

And the water thing. The last time the water went out, my partner got up early in the morning with me to help me wash up because he knows I usually panic when there's no water or electricity, and I have something important to do - like get ready for work.

The thing is, I grew up with a water regime too, as I told you. In the summer we had to bathe and wash our clothes in the river, believe it or not. The bad thing is that there are villages in Bulgaria that have still been on a water regime for decades. I have spent a large part of my life in not very hygienic conditions. A basin and an immersion heater (but the old ones with heating-resistors, which are even dangerous to use) are things that have been used for many, many years. I have lived in places where there were not even bathrooms, or the bathrooms could not be used, or not allowed to be used, or there was only cold water, etc., etc. I will not tell you now again about the living conditions in such a poor country.

Years have passed, some things have changed, others have changed somewhat. And now this... as I wrote in my previous post.

I can't go back there, to that nightmare. Of course, as representatives of a poor country, "we know two and two hundred" - this is a local proverb. It means that we have seen everything and can cope in any conditions. However, I don't know if I will succeed. Both mentally and physically.

But as I said, I found a number of inconsistencies in this theory, and that gives me hope that maybe it's not real. And I remain hopeful.

Sort:

I wouldn’t count on the world ‘coming to an end’ any time soon, nor on the political situation changing in a desirable way. In fact, globally speaking, it looks exactly the opposite…

A bit of preparation doesn’t do any harm; it helps you feel safer. But not so much that it fuels panic again, which is so unhelpful.
