There is something uniquely terrifying about waking up somewhere you do not recognise and realising that the place seems to know far more about you than you know about it.

Her Twin Is Trapped in Darcwurld

At the heart of Obversion is Cassandra's twin sister, Alexandra.

Alexandra is trapped in Darcwurld, a horrifying alternate version of Sacred Valley. Cassandra cannot simply walk into this other realm and find her. Instead, she catches glimpses of Alexandra through mirrors and reflections in water.

Where Cassandra sees the streets and buildings of Sacred Valley around her, the reflection can reveal something entirely different: a darker, corrupted version of the town where Alexandra remains trapped.

That creates one of Cassandra's most important goals. She needs to understand what Darcwurld is, why Alexandra is there, and whether there is any way to bring her back.

Unfortunately, Sacred Valley has other plans for her.

A Supernatural Horror World Inspired by Silent Hill

Fans of Silent Hill will probably recognise some of the inspiration behind Sacred Valley: the fog, psychological horror, disturbing environments, distorted realities and the sense that a location itself can become part of the nightmare.

Sacred Valley: Obversion is not a Silent Hill story, however. Sacred Valley has its own mythology, characters, supernatural rules and history. The deeper Cassandra travels into the town, the more she discovers that the horrors surrounding her are connected to events and people from its past.

This is not simply a story about surviving monsters.

It is about discovering why the monsters are there in the first place.

The Sins of Sacred Valley's Past

Sacred Valley remembers.

People may try to bury their actions, hide their mistakes and pretend certain events never happened, but the town has a way of dragging old sins back into the light.

Cassandra gradually finds herself following clues connected to events that happened long before she understood her own connection to Sacred Valley.

Even more disturbing are the signs pointing towards people from her own past.

Her father.

Her adopted brother, Jenson.

Why are traces of them appearing here? What do they have to do with Sacred Valley? And why does Cassandra increasingly feel as though her arrival in the town was never accidental?

Those questions become increasingly difficult to ignore.

Doctor Boatman and an Unexpected New Path

Not everyone Cassandra encounters is another nightmare waiting to happen.

Doctor Boatman takes Cassandra in and becomes an important figure in her life. Under his guidance, she begins learning about the medical field and developing skills that give her a new sense of direction.

That relationship also gives Cassandra something desperately needed in a place like Sacred Valley: a human connection.

Yet even apparent safety can be dangerous when you are surrounded by a town filled with secrets.

The Places Waiting in the Fog

Cassandra's search for answers takes her through several important locations, each carrying its own part of Sacred Valley's history:

• The Fire Station — where another piece of the town's past waits to be uncovered.
• The Prison — a place designed to keep people inside, although perhaps not everything imprisoned there should ever be released.
• The Orphanage — where memories, childhood and the sins of adults become dangerously intertwined.

These are not simply locations Cassandra visits on her journey. Each one pulls her further into the mystery surrounding Sacred Valley and closer to understanding why she woke there.

And Then There Is Pink Princess...

There is another name that becomes important during Cassandra's journey.

Pink Princess.

No, I am not going to explain what that means here.

Some things are much more enjoyable when you discover them while wandering through Sacred Valley yourself.

Would You Enter Darcwurld for Someone You Love?

For all the supernatural horror surrounding Cassandra, Obversion ultimately carries a deeply personal question beneath the fog.

How far would you go to save someone you love?

Cassandra does not understand why she woke in Sacred Valley. She does not yet understand the sins buried beneath the town, why people from her past seem connected to it, or what waits for her deeper inside the nightmare.

But she knows Alexandra is trapped in Darcwurld.

And leaving her there is not an option.
