Diary Game 05/09/2026: A special cinema evening at pathe azur with my children

I hope you are all doing well and finding enough time, despite work, school, responsibilities and all the little things that usually fill our days without us even noticing how quickly time is passing, to enjoy some simple moments with your family, because the older my children become, the more I realize that these apparently ordinary outings are often the ones that I will probably remember the most a few years from now.

On September 5th, 2026, I decided to spend part of the day with my two sons, my eldest Yahya and his little brother Iskander, and our destination this time was Pathé Azur, where we planned to enjoy a cinema outing together, take a break from the usual routine and simply have one of those father-and-sons moments that do not need any complicated organization to become special.

Going to the cinema may sound like a very simple activity, especially when compared with travelling, visiting a new place or planning a full day of activities, but for children the entire experience starts long before the movie itself begins, because entering the cinema, discovering the posters, choosing where to take pictures, walking through the corridors and finally entering the screening room are all part of the adventure.

And judging from the energy of Yahya and Iskander that day, I knew very quickly that this was going to be much more than just sitting quietly in front of a screen for two hours. 😄

Arriving at Pathé Azur

As soon as we arrived at Pathé Azur, the boys immediately started looking around at all the promotional displays and movie posters, and before we had even reached the screening room, the first photo session had already begun.

I always enjoy watching how differently the two of them react to the same place, because Yahya, being the older brother, is usually a little calmer and more composed in front of the camera, while Iskander seems to consider every photo an opportunity to invent a new pose, make a funny face or transform an ordinary picture into something much more entertaining.

This difference between them is actually one of the things that makes family photos so enjoyable to keep, because their personalities appear naturally without anyone needing to ask them to behave in a particular way.

Spider-Man Immediately Caught Their Attention

Of course, there was one display that was impossible for them to ignore.

The moment they saw the huge Spider-Man promotional decoration, they both wanted photographs beside it, and from that point on I understood that taking just one normal picture was probably not going to be possible.

Yahya stood calmly on one side while Iskander immediately tried to interact with the Spider-Man figure, and I think this photo describes their personalities better than I could explain them with words.

For children, characters like Spider-Man are not simply images printed on a cinema poster, because in their imagination these superheroes belong to a completely different world filled with action, adventure and impossible powers, so standing next to a life-size display suddenly becomes much more exciting than it probably looks to an adult.

Iskander and His Own Spider-Man Pose

Naturally, Iskander was not satisfied with simply standing next to Spider-Man.

He immediately started inventing his own pose with his arms wide open, smiling and clearly enjoying himself much more than someone who had simply come to watch a movie.

These are exactly the photos I like the most, because they are not carefully prepared and there is no need to ask the children to smile; the smile comes naturally because they are simply enjoying what they are doing.

A few years from now, I am sure that this kind of picture will make us laugh much more than a perfectly posed family photograph.

Yahya Takes His Turn

After seeing his little brother enjoying his Spider-Man moment, Yahya naturally wanted his own picture too.

Being the older brother sometimes means trying to look a little more serious, but when there is a superhero display in front of you, even the older one eventually forgets about being serious and joins the fun.

I really enjoyed seeing the two of them moving from one place to another and comparing their poses, because the cinema outing had not even properly started yet and they were already laughing and creating memories.

Exploring the Cinema Before the Movie

We continued walking through the cinema, and what I liked about Pathé Azur was that even the waiting areas and corridors gave us little opportunities to stop, look around and take photographs.

The boys were still full of energy, and while adults normally use waiting areas to actually sit and wait, children seem to see them as another place to explore.

I sometimes wonder where they find all that energy, because they can spend an entire afternoon walking, playing, running around and posing for photos, then somehow still ask what we are going to do next.

A Small Break Before Entering the Hall

At one point Yahya finally decided to sit down for a few moments, which naturally deserved another photo because getting one of the children to remain in the same place for more than thirty seconds felt almost like an achievement that afternoon. 😄

I like this photograph because it captures a quieter side of the outing, away from the funny poses and superhero decorations, and reminds me that sometimes these ordinary moments are just as valuable as the exciting ones.

Family memories are not created only during big events; sometimes they are hidden in very simple details, like waiting together in a cinema corridor while everyone is impatient for the movie to begin.

Time to Find Our Screening Room

Finally, it was time to head toward our hall.

Once again, Yahya gave me the calm smile of the older brother while Iskander decided that simply standing normally was far too boring and added his own little pose to the picture.

At that moment, their excitement was obvious because once children see the entrance to the screening room, suddenly nothing else matters and all they want to know is whether the movie is about to start.

Finally Inside the Cinema

After all the photos, walking and little stops along the way, we finally entered the cinema hall and took our seats.

This picture is probably one of my favorites from the entire outing, not because it is perfect, but simply because it captures exactly why I wanted to spend this time with them.

There we were, sitting together in the red cinema seats, Yahya and Iskander beside me, waiting for the movie to begin and enjoying a very ordinary family evening that, without realizing it at the time, had already become another memory that I wanted to keep.

As parents, we often spend so much time thinking about what our children need, what they have to do for school, what time they should sleep, what responsibilities are waiting for us the next day and all the practical details of everyday life, that sometimes we forget how important it is to simply sit beside them and enjoy something together without thinking about anything else.

For those few hours, that was exactly what we did.

Still Laughing Even After the Movie

Even when we were leaving the screening area, the boys still had enough energy to continue joking together.

This photograph made me smile because it captures something that happens all the time between brothers: one minute they can disagree about something completely insignificant, and five minutes later they are laughing together as if nothing ever happened.

Watching Yahya and Iskander grow together is sometimes noisy, sometimes exhausting and very often unpredictable, but it is also incredibly rewarding, because behind all their little arguments there is a bond that develops naturally with every experience they share.

The Best Part Was Simply Spending Time Together

When I think back on this outing, I realize that there was nothing extraordinary about the plan itself.

We did not travel hundreds of kilometers.

We did not visit some famous monument.

We did not organize an expensive adventure.

We simply went to the cinema together.

But maybe that is precisely why I wanted to write about this day, because family life is mostly made of these simple moments, and if we only wait for extraordinary occasions before deciding that something is worth remembering, we risk forgetting a huge part of what actually makes our lives meaningful.

Yahya is growing older, Iskander is following not very far behind him, and every year their interests, personalities and relationship change a little, which means that moments like this will never return in exactly the same way.

Today they are excited about cinema posters, Spider-Man poses and choosing seats together.

A few years from now, everything will probably be different.

And that is why I take the photos.

Final Thoughts

Our visit to Pathé Azur was ultimately a very simple family outing, but it gave me something that I value more and more as the children grow: a few uninterrupted hours with my two sons, away from the normal routine, during which we could laugh, take silly photos, enjoy a movie and simply spend time together.

Yahya, as usual, brought his calmer older-brother personality to the afternoon, while Iskander added enough energy and funny poses for both of them, and watching the two of them together reminded me once again that childhood really does move much faster than we expect.

There will always be another movie.

There will always be another cinema.

But there will never be another afternoon when Yahya and Iskander are exactly the age they were on that day.

That is probably the main reason I enjoy keeping these little family diaries.

One day the photos will become old, the cinema posters will advertise completely different movies and the boys will probably laugh when they see the clothes and poses they chose, but the memory behind those photographs will still belong to us.

And for me, that makes this simple evening at Pathé Azur worth remembering. ❤️
