RE: The Witches’ Market, La Paz, Bolivia - The place that has everything but magic

in #travelfeed • 7 years ago

So the tiny lamas aren't stuffed animals was my first thought. Then again lama isn't that rare in Boliva but I'm not sure if they often have miscarriage. I know tradition goes beyond cute and cuddly and that indigenous people care for the Pachamama more than modern civilization. I haven't been to any country in South America but I hope local practices are more alive and haven't become part of the legend

There is actual belief and Bolivian is really serious about it. I was told that if someone suddenly gets sick without reason, they will think it is resulted from a bad spell from some of his/her enemy. And instead of going a hospital, they probably call the shamans/witches to break the spell.
There are aslo a lot of ceremonies and other rituals taking the place in Bolivia. Getting to know their spirituality is still very fascinating.
