A festive kind of chill in the soul.
A festive kind of chill in the soul.
When people speak of someone having a "coldness in their soul," it usually bodes ill; the phrase describes those who lack empathy for the suffering or harbor malicious intent.
Yet, upon closer reflection, a chill in the soul isn't always a bad thing; in fact, it can even carry a certain festive quality.
I might claim to dislike the cold, but that would be a lie—I love cold ice cream, chilled panna cotta, kholodets (meat jelly), chilled drinks, and all the things associated with celebrations.
And yes, a special warmth fills the soul in anticipation of the cold holiday of Christmas—even though it is still a long way off.
As for the rain—those autumn rains that bring the cold—there’s no simple verdict there, either.
If there are tasty treats on the table—whether hot or cold—I won't even notice the cold outside; I’ll be far too busy enjoying them.
I’m not sure if working hard at the computer generates warmth—especially when you have to close the windows because it’s getting chilly—but daydreaming about tasty treats and writing about them is certainly pleasant; it warms the soul, lol.
