Inctober 2026: 12.10 -12. Toss
Another wonderful day, another leap forward—whether from a low start or a high one is for each of us to decide as we navigate successes and setbacks, making mistakes and correcting them. That, in essence, was the day I took part in the Inktober 2026 challenge and attempted to use ink on paper to depict something that would fit the word "Toss."
You can toss almost anything in this world: a ball into a hoop, a bad habit, or a coin to a beggar. I think I’ll settle on that last option and try to illustrate it.
Of course, it is worth noting that any toss can succeed or fail; it can be spontaneous or calculated, made from the heart or done carelessly—perhaps simply because we were told to do so.
The synagogue is one place where people are taught the proper way to give alms—a practice given significant attention out of fear of angering God. Yet, people are only human—descendants of Adam and Cain—and sometimes they forget, or fail to consider, that they are always under God’s watchful eye, tossing alms as casually as one might throw a bone to a dog.
A beggar asking for alms while sitting on the synagogue steps becomes a litmus test for the hearts of those who give.
Some coins are carefully placed into the beggar’s palm, while others—tossed by the dark mass of Orthodox Jews—miss his hand entirely and roll along the street; yet, having given a couple of coins to the needy, these people believe they have fulfilled their mission for the day.
Not everything about this piece was a success; there are reasons to view this sketch as a concept for a more polished graphite drawing, but I believe I managed to convey the essence of the throw.
Wishing everyone a blessed day!

To me it looks good enough. It is good to have drafts at hand, even if sounds like extra work.

Thank you so much for the support! :)

I don't know—for now, let it just sit in the folder with the other drawings, and then... we'll see :)
I recognise immediately a begger, person sitting on steps and with the head looking down, maybe just showing his respect or maybe being to shy for being poor and not able to look into the face of peopple who give the person some coins.
The buildings you did very well, it looks old but very stable :)
