The failure of self-persuasion.
The failure of self-persuasion.
There's a theory, even a scientific one, that a person can convince themselves of something so strongly that it can turn circumstances upside down and vice versa.
Long before anything like this filtered into scientific literature, in an old comedy based on a satirical verse novella by Lope de Vega, you could hear Tristan, Teodoro's servant, explain in song how to get rid of love: simply convince yourself otherwise, and even in comedy, it didn't work.
Today I tried to convince myself that I wasn't hot, that I was just lying on the beach and had been waiting for this warmth for a long time, but I couldn't hear the sound of the sea, although seagulls periodically cried as they flew toward the landfill.
So, it didn't help, and if it did, it was only for a split second, until I realized I was trying to deceive myself... Do you like being deceived?
So, I decided to try a different method, my own, lol. It's no less ineffective, but at least I tried it, and the basis of this method is trying to transport myself back to a cool day, after the rain, with puddles sparkling all around... that doesn't work either.
