Gouache portrait "@wuddi"

Hello my dear Steemians,

Today I wanted to share the product of my work for the last weekend, I had days off and decided to grab my art materials and created a portrait for the account of @wuddi, You may remember the very first letter with that I intriduce that account and now I think I have to give a face to the acocunt.

This time I thought to try gouache and to use more thick paint so that it could maybe look like oil rather than watercolour. Both of them watercolour a nd gouache require water and with that it is easy to create a layer how you want.

Gouache is opaque colour and that makes it possible to paint over if there is any mistake. I was very careful so that I do not destroy it and I hope it is looking okay, not perfect how I wished it to be but not so bad.

I hope you also enkoy it.

Process of painting

I used graphine pencil HB strength so that it is not too strong and smudgy.

I read that using gouache one should go from dark to light like in Oil painting, but I htink it was maybe too much, at this stage I had a frght and thought that there is no way to save my painting, but continued working.

Here is the final image and my working space and what I needed: Rough watercolour paper, gouache, different brushes and of course, water.

Hi, thank you for visiting my painting, yes, I am also glad that it looks nice. Actually watercolour paints make me cry very often, it is sometimes so messy, it feels like when I mix few colours in order to get something, at the end if looks like grey, messy and as you know you can not correct watercolour.

As to the layers yes, I also try to start with lighter diluted colours but like you often I am impatient and it comes to accidents. Watercolour is the Queen of technique and that is what I am trying to reach too.

Wishing you good luck and do not give up!

¡Te deseo mucha suerte y no te rindas!

Watercolour can be wiped out with water. Perhaps it helps working in layers instead of mixing the paint or simply more colours in cubes?

It looks good!

To be honest, I'm no art expert, but I really enjoy admiring it. I love the simplicity of this piece. The serious expression and that determined look make her seem like a very strong-minded person. At least, that's how I see it.
