in #curation • last month (edited)

Hello Steem Team, In response to @steemcurator01

Here is reference to your comment and as I expected most applications were supposed to post on the last day, but as I said there will be enough to select from in the end. Here we go with the full list and classification:

As I said, there are enough worthy Steemians to form 11 teams with three members each that can take care of all languages, time zones and different categories. For sure, you'll have to discard couple of them for obvious reasons but you still have a choice to make your teams without much problem.

As you said in one of your comments on my post that you don't intend to allow Booming votes to communities so the Booming votes will go to three different teams to be given to all communities and all projects.

Please note, since you have asked me to make teams I have selected the teams as per ongoing rule of 3 Booming Teams plus 1 team with larger voting power and 7 normal teams as per following:

  • I am leaving 3 teams for your selection

I propose curators to vote in the range of 30-40% on posts and 5-15 on comments so maximum users get the benefit.

  • Note: Some of them have delegated to prohibited accounts so I leave them to your choice.

Greetings, friend @dove11.

It is an interesting post; however, I do not agree with forming teams based on SP. In fact, some users with significant SP have no interest in reviewing content before voting with their own accounts; instead, they use automated voting systems, leading them to support accounts dedicated to farming or low-quality content.

We currently need more users interested in reviewing content and blogs, as the platform has once again been overrun by empty and/or fraudulent accounts. We need analytical and critical users who act ethically when utilizing the resources of curation programs, so that the effort invested in cultivating a genuine and active community does not go to waste.

Despite holding this view, I appreciate your effort to provide selection methods for curators.

Thank you! That's what it's happening right now and you know that well! Do you think I come good up to your expectation to do the job?

You're doing a good job, my friend.

I am here with you. Many with a high SP rarely read or commented. They reached the high SP and level in a different way.b

Suscribo tu planteamiento, @adeljose.

Gracias! 🫶

Glad you approved my selection but it's to be done by the Steemit Team in the end, thanks a lot!

Absolutely, my friend!

I just wanted to say that I liked how you organized things, and that it will be a pleasure working with users I haven't crossed paths with before.

But... we'll have to wait.

Thank you @dove11 for your selections.

Have you applied any rules for recent powerdowns?

Steem Curators must not have recently powered down (30-90 days.)

What is the easiest way to check that?

It will be interesting to see if any of the people selected have any comments about the teams you have allocated them to.

And it will be even more interesting to hear from any of the applicants that you have not selected.

It would be very useful for those non-selected people to hear the reason(s) why they didn't make the cut. Hopefully then they can make improvements for next time.

You have @chant in two teams by the way.

Hello sir,

Steem Curators must not have recently powered down (30-90 days.)
What is the easiest way to check that?

The easiest way is to check through steemword since most tools have stopped showing that. Maybe steem-seven is another option but I haven't checked that for sometime now. There was another one by Gorilla and if I remember right synthesizer or a similar name.

I have not selected three teams so leave them to Steemit Team as for giving reasons for not selecting, I can tell you a couple of reasons but avoid saying them for obvious reasons.

I have replaced @chant in one team. Thanks and regards!

If not mistaken this can be checked through steemworld.org

Must have missed that. What is the Tool name for this?

Hereby the direct link

https://steemworld.org/transfer-search?

Do you see normal transfers? There are more options (see the second screenshot).

You fill out the name and date range and it runs those transfers you are looking for. It it shows nothing there are no transfers.

Normalmtransfer is for example prizes paid to participants in contests, Steem transferred to a third wallet.

Transfer to vesting stands for power up.

Withdraw Vesting is powerdown and most likely the same counts for transfer from savings. This is also a powerdown but it can be the amount will be powered up (changed into SP).

That is very useful.

Thank you @wakeupkitty

It's my pleasure

And it will be even more interesting to hear from any of the applicants that you have not selected.

So I want to give an answer, which is
Among the few teams that have been selected, big accounts like booming have been given based on SP. Don't worry about me not being on this list because the steemit team will announce the real results. I didn't make it to the list even though I had the highest SP in Group C. 😃 Also, out of my 41,000+ SP, only 650 SP were in delegation. Nevertheless, I express my gratitude for his beautiful report. Because dove11 is doing a nice job of digging into the topic of curator selection. Now I will wait for the results that are published on @steemitblog. 🤩

Dear @rokonn, you're at the top of group C and 3 team slots still vacant. I am sure you will be one of the candidates for one of them. All the best. Aa you know, this is purely my personal views which has nothing to do with actual selection.

Yes boss, you have done a very good review. I also think it would be great to always keep curators' activities under surveillance. Thank you very much.🤩

Hi @dove11, thank you for taking time and trying to make your suggestion and create the teams. It is useful that you ordered people according their Steem Power and also you gave your suggestion of teams.

It is not easy to form teams because we want the system to work well and also we do not want to be repetitive and select the same people again an again.

The curation work is very important and if one would like to do good job with selection process in my opinion we pay attention to following:

  • Teams made of 5 users:

I had experience of teams made of 5 users and that was the best number. The curation happens every 5th day that means the curators have enough time between to have rest and often during this time as curators we still go through the blogs and search for new users, good posts, just to find good post in advance.

In my opinion teams of 2 or 3 is very stressful, it is time difference between countries and curators and often I see that many Curators select often the same users and that is the sign of trying to go easy way, just to choose users who we know and we definitely know that they are not powering down and doing good content

  • Teams should have mixture of experienced users and less experience:

If we want the system work we need to teach other users who do not have much experience in curation but who we would like to be a Curator. That is why the combination of users with different experiences always very helpful.

  • Benefits of bigger teams

More chance for many users to be Curators and to learn, to be seen and also more curators there will be more variety of picks. That will help us to avoid to take the same people frequently

Let’s recruit more Curators, bigger teams, better curation and better mixture of curators!

I agree that working in a 3-member team is hard—there’s almost no time to rest from curation. I’d like to try working in a team of 4. As for a team of 5, I can’t really picture it yet; the break between turns might be a bit too long.

I remember when I first joined a team, more experienced members explained everything to me. That’s why the idea of forming a 3+1 team (where a new member is added) makes a lot of sense.

There is one more thing. Many people know "The 5 Monkeys and a Banana Story". In my curation experience, I've noticed certain "traditions" that aren't officially written anywhere—like voting percentages, the number of posts or comments per day, or submitting curation reports. It would be really helpful to outline these as guidelines, if not strict rules.

Since @steemitblog explicitly states:

"There will be no themes or special directions for the selected curation teams. All teams will be free to vote on any posts or comments as long as they are not plagiarized or AI generated."

...maybe it's time to let go of some of these old traditions.

Hi @sergeyk, thank youf or reading my comment and also supporting the fact that curators should have some time for rest. DO you know it was time when there were 7 curators and that was really too much time between :) 4-5 curators yes, that is best options.

As to the Voting percentage, I think there should be some rules that team should come together and agree, I had a team where we voted with 100% and 80% when we saw that the post was worth it. Also there are some users who post less or may post nothing but their comments worth a good post, those comments we also voted with 50%+ and also such users we have nominated at the end of the week.

I do not know how much time you had to visit the weekly posts of @wakeupkitty and @solperez, you can see that they definitely have very "colourful" curation that is something that many curators have to take an example from.

I hope Steemit Team will also pay attention to these kind of curation and let the team to create their own rules and maybe that will also show if hte Curators can work creatively, with their thinking and inspiration and not just within a frame of old establish rules. Any system need some fresh wind :)

Thank you for the mention. We also give high up votes up to 100%.
I invest in commenting and pointing out what can be improved. Of course, there a plenty not willing to since they simply do not care since the upvote arrives automatically.

We start at 100%. The percentage is lower if title, hashtags or something else doesn't fit or we are running out of SP and simply want to reward a few we found last minute.

We do not necessary vote higher for a post. According to me it takes way more time to read someone and write a good comment. This besides of the fact good commenters keep the conversation going on.
It is way easier to write a few lines, add a picture and leave.

To my opinion most of the posts do not really add anything to this platform since they are one out of thousands written posts over the past years, frequently also edits of earlier posts. Comments do more. They connect people and make this platform a lively place to be, plus it can provide in upvotes.

I understand that if a curator mainly votes for all those members in his/her community the SP limits the percentage of votes given.

By the way: I always had a theme plus certain group I liked voting for. Simply because they are on average ignored by all curators. This is still the case.

If other curators decide for something else that is fine with me, as long as deals aren't made. It would be good if the average curator had a broader horizon and would invest in reading and commenting. I can assure you that Steemit looks completely different if you mainly read comments.

❤️🍀

Hi Kitty, just wanted to draw your attention to this wonderful comment, it is worth of support, thanks in advance:

Thank you.

I was very distracted by the post it belongs to...
No need to comment right?

https://steemit.com/ccc/@wakeupkitty/the-death-of-the-creativity-artists-and-commenters

I agree with you, @stef1. Being a "curator" demands time and commitment. Reading posts and checking to ensure they are free of plagiarism and AI usage can be exhausting. Another detail Kitty and I have noticed is that some users "duplicate" their posts; they simply change the titles and images. Unfortunately, these users receive votes from curators, which emboldens their brazen behavior and encourages honest users to resort to the same "cheating" tactics.

In fact you are absolutely right respected @stef1 as that was the best but the lot of water has flown under the River Ganges since or should I say Tames? Now they have team of 1-2-3 but team of five is no where in the picture. I also prefer 7 teams of 5 rather than 11 teams of 3. But then the management has to adjust more topics like games, etc so they have made the changes. I hope you know what I men. Thanks a lot for your wise views as you will always remain one of my initial Guru.

We had never trouble working with two or three the only stress is if one of the team members doesn't do his job and finds it normal to let others solve their absence.

For sure every curator will have a hard time if s)he never connects to others, doesn't know what is posted where and who always invests in commenting.

I have faced that and worked for them, even filled sheets for them.

Hi @dove11

Hello friends, I hope you are doing well. The list you proposed is quite well-organized and many worthy curators have been considered. However, I feel that looking solely at SP, reputation or delegation is not enough when selecting the final team. Several other important factors should be taken into account this applies to me, to you and to all users.

Regular Curation ActivityWhether the individual curates regularly and has a track record of fulfilling responsibilities properly and on time.
Platform ExperienceHow long the applicant has been active on Steem and the extent of their practical experience with the platform are crucial.
Quality of the selected curator's postsThe type of content a curator creates and the extent to which their posts are original, informative, creative, and of high qualityis also significant. This is because having personal experience in content creation plays a major role in understanding what constitutes good content.
Activity and Time ManagementTheir level of activity within a 24-hour cycle and their ability to timely identify and support posts from users across different time zones should be considered.
Curation ExperienceIf they have worked as a curator previously, one can evaluate the consistency of their work, their decision-making skills, and their ability to identify high-quality content of various types.
Proper Use of PowerIt is also important to verify if there is any past record of abusing curation power, biased voting, granting undue advantages to accounts with vested interests, or violating rules.

Ultimately, to form a balanced team, I believe the selection process would be more transparent and effective if alongside SP and reputation factors such as activity, experience, reliability, time-zone coverage, and past curation records are considered collectively. I have highlighted these points based on my own perspective. However, the Steemit team will consider them far more thoroughly than I have, as their selection process is always impeccable.

You said it bro, I was asked to suggest so I did that based on my calculation however the seection is to be done by Steemit Team and they know their job. I appreciate your ideas and points though. Have a great time, by the way there are three more teams which are still unnamed.

Yeaah thanks for your nice feedback 🤗

Hi Dear @dove11

I liked the systems you selected. I definitely agree with you. But personally, what I feel is that always being considered fully responsible just because of SP and reputation doesn’t seem very right to me. The most important thing here is experience. Experience in performing responsibilities correctly is the most important

  • A curator should be someone whose own posts are of good quality. There are many selected people with a lot of fame whose post quality is actually weak. If they cannot cover up their own weaknesses, how can they be considered a curator?

  • Also, another thing is that those who have good experience with responsibility and have carried it out correctly without breaking the rules for whatever period they have held it, and have followed the rules properly – these are the people who can handle all these responsibilities well

  • Honorable SC02 mentioned whether there is a power down within 30 to 90 days. If this matter can be analyzed, to my knowledge, there are many users like this in the selection you made. Personally, if I were to say, I’d say finding such a person is a bit difficult for the present time

Above all, one thing is clear: the platform’s team management is extremely good and holds important positions. They are much more experienced when it comes to selection. Only they can properly analyze who can be given this responsibility. They always have no one above them. I will definitely wait for those responsible on the platform who play an important role in this selection.

Absolutely agree with your statement dear @memamun

The most important thing here is experience. Experience in performing responsibilities correctly is the most important

Experience should be the basic criteria for selection of teams and as you said the Steemit Team is the right body that will do its job. They just asked me so I came up with my opinion (just as you are giving your opinion on my post)

So let's wait and watch! By the way I have at least 20 curation month in almost all sections and 5 SLC to my credit so I consider myself a little experienced too. As far power down or come back, one should cool down their heels before take the reins again.

Oh yes, I agree writing is a complicated matter which comes with experience as well as basic knowledge so that should be one of the main criterion for getting selected as a curator. Thank you, I definitely agree with all your points.

Thank you so much for responding with such a nice comment. We already know about your qualifications. You are a very experienced user.

But one thing I like the most is how much feedback ordinary users get from a person in charge. How an ordinary user is treated by someone responsible. Sincerity is extremely important. A responsible person gives an ordinary user advice in a very smooth and polite way, and if there’s any mistake, they suggest corrections nicely. All these things are very important for every person in charge. Do you think having these qualities is very necessary?

Yes, I think these qualities are very important indeed and everyone does that according to their qualification and experience and with your kind of experience you're quite capable of doing that!

thanks for your nice feedback 🤗

As I am still a very new user on this platform, I am simply sharing my personal opinion. I believe that if a complete newcomer with an interest in curation is given the opportunity to work alongside an experienced curation team, they will have the chance to learn a great deal from those seasoned curators. Guided by their expertise and mentorship, the individual will gradually develop their own skills and a deeper understanding of curation. In the future, this experience could mold them into a skilled curator capable of making a significant contribution to the Steemit platform.

Hi @rauja, there are only 35 or 36 valid applications and they have to select 33 so why do you feel you're not in the line. As far experience you're and existing curator which should have benefited a lot. All the best. My post is just a suggestion but the Team will take its final decision some time soon.

I applaud you for coming up with your selection despite not making it to your list. I am still okay with your calculations and selection. As SC01 has said, I would like to know the reason behind not selecting some users. Although not everyone can make it to the list for one or two reasons, you can share your reasons for future reference and consideration.
