For many, it will be difficult to return home after a war, and a great many crimes take place there – rape, abductions, the trafficking of people, to name but a few. Often, the moment they return is just a brief instant when they might be seen as heroes; after that, they are people who are no longer given a second thought.

I remember those cards too; my grandmother used to buy them. In the early days, they were also sold door-to-door – I suppose to raise money for disabled artists. There were many mouth and foot painters amongst them. These days, I don’t hear anything about that at all.
