A good thought that came too late.

A good thought that came too late.

There is a wise yet humorous saying for people like me—those who sometimes act hastily under the pressure of circumstances—that goes something like this: "A good thought comes after the fact."

Admittedly, the actual saying is phrased a bit differently; it involves nuances of grammar and phrasing that only a native English speaker—which I am not—would fully grasp, but the meaning is conveyed accurately.

Yes, the right idea or the right course of action is sometimes obscured by a veil of fog—a thick fog that hides certain future prospects.

For instance, I once gave away—for next to nothing—cubic meters of soil excavated while building the foundation of my house. The excavation pit was massive and deep, and the soil contained layers of red and blue clay.

In essence, it was invaluable material for someone looking to master the craft of stove-building, or a perfect starting point for pottery; yet at the time, all I wanted was to clear those mountains of dirt from the site as quickly as possible.

It took nearly nine years—and an in-depth study of both stove-building and pottery—for me to realize my mistake.

But I know that if I decide to build an underground greenhouse, I can put the excavated soil to excellent use and master at least two trades; after all, I’ll have an abundance of raw material at my disposal.

It’s probably a good thing that, after making mistakes, we learn to distinguish true light from false light—especially since so many things will try to distract us with their flashy, deceptive lights.

It is right what you say that sometimes we do realise something too late or sometimes we look back and notice what we should have done but just did not think about that in the past. I am pretty sure if now there will be an excavation you definitely will use it with a good future goal. I really like your drawing, is it still in process? By the way, I started to try to keep on track with Inktober, do you have interest, here is the link:

An interesting challenge—thanks for the upvote and the invitation!
I hadn't really planned to start drawing today, but after looking at the themes and subscribing, I started thinking about it :)
To be honest, I haven't worked with ink in a long time, and I'm not sure if I even have ink and a ruling pen or dip pens in my supplies; however, I see that using a graphite pencil is an option, so I'll have to give that a try.
As for my drawing—yes, it needs some refinement and is far from perfect, but I’m hesitant to touch it up right now. It’s meaningful to me just as it is: a milestone in the development of my drawing skills and part of a series of illustrations for the chapters of the Book of Genesis. If memory serves, I illustrated about a dozen chapters. In any case, I view my drawings as sketches that I might improve or completely alter later—though likely on a fresh sheet of paper.
Have a blessed day!

Yes, itis something we used to do in old Steemit when there were many artists, I actually mentioned that to @wakeupkitty and she also starting that challenge.
