The new birds that have started coming to your place,

t is a truly beautiful sight! As winter begins, migratory birds arrive in our country—especially in North India and Uttar Pradesh—traveling thousands of kilometers from cold regions like Siberia, Mongolia, China, and Europe.

The new birds you have started seeing are likely these very visitors, arriving here to escape the cold and search for food. At this time of year, these foreign birds begin to appear at various well-known bird sanctuaries in Uttar Pradesh (such as Sur Sarovar Lake/Keetham Lake near Agra, Nawabganj Bird Sanctuary, etc.) and at various other lakes.

Commonly spotted birds include:

Ruddy Shelduck: These beautiful, duck-like birds, with their bright orange-brown plumage, are often seen in flocks near water bodies.

Northern Pintail and Gadwall: Various species of ducks that can be seen swimming in the water.

Common Coot and Greylag Goose: Species of geese and waterfowl that arrive from colder countries.

White Wagtail and various species of Sandpipers: Birds often seen hopping about in fields or along the water's edge.

Have you spotted any of these birds near a lake, a riverbank, or perhaps in the trees and fields around you? If you can describe their appearance—such as their colors or size—I would be happy to help identify them and provide more information about them!

En mi experiencia, el color naranja‑marrón del Ruddy Shelduck que capturaste en Keetham Lake me recordó las primeras migraciones que observamos en familia. I learned that the Northern Pintail usually arrives a week before the Gadwall, which matches the timeline my brother mentioned for birds coming from Siberia.

Here in Central Europe, we're seeing that fewer and fewer migratory birds are making the journey in winter... Climate change is also altering animal behavior.
