RE: It has always been like this
(It's always been like this, right? 🤔)And it will always be this way; human beings, or at least most of them, behave this way.
I am an extremely sincere man, and I have observed that most people do NOT like to hear honest opinions, but I will always give them. However, those who accept the truth learn and improve themselves; that is, accepting things as they are is something that many appreciate and try to take advantage of, and it seems to me the most sensible thing to do.
People do not like to hear honest opinions, so more and more often resort to AI's opinions, which is never sincere, and is never objective, although this is exactly what should be its machine function - to be objective.
And removing the human-honest element in conversation begins to make people calmer and more confident, which in reality will lead to their doom, which is a trend nowadays in the process of eliminating everything human in everything.
People just want that, I guess 🤷♀️
:-)
Interesting and perhaps true!
Aren't all opinions subjective, as a matter of fact? :-P
Yes, that is true, but when we talk about AI, the entire concept is flawed. It is not, or at least it shouldn't be, about the machine expressing an opinion. Its current purpose is to gather and relay facts, not to offer opinions, reassure people, or give advice - all delivered in a hypocritically friendly style that is unnatural for a machine, yet mimics a human demeanor. Perhaps that very human quality is currently actually being lost, as in some parts of the planet, people have forgotten how to be human. And now, the machine is replacing that. Today it replaces that, tomorrow it will replace everything else. The situation is quite chaotic, and at the same time, frightening.
Perhaps we should also remember its main purpose is make money to the owners of its infrastructure and code.
If people with bad intentions do it - they will find a way around the safety measures taken. I don't think we can avoid that. AI has been utilized to all bunch of awesome things at the same time.
Just today I read about these so real predictions that humanity will be destroyed to a maximum of 10 years by AI. Maybe even next year. It is said by people who have dealt with its development.
Other people build bunkers, thirds are organized to leave the Earth.
What haven't people understood yet?
When I joke that aliens are watching us and constantly laughing at our stupidity, I think there is no greater stupidity than welcoming our own destruction. I wanted to look like a grumpy bad prophet, and I wanted everything I guess to be vain assumptions. But unfortunately, everything I thought turned out to be true again. Don't we want to live any longer? Oh, yes, life on this planet is difficult, let's end it all together. Because that's exactly what we're doing right now.

I think you mention Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon, I read that too. Maybe sooner or maybe not so soon as AI still needs so much energy but again, with super-intelligence that's probably a "minor issue". We are about to see, I hope it stays in the realm of science fiction.
This is just our human nature - if it could be done, it will be done, as soon as possible, no matter what. For the same sake people start wars, destruct almost everything and poke each hole in the ground.
