Without expectations
Without expectations, there is no disappointment.
But perhaps the problem isn’t expectations themselves, but rather expecting the other person to follow a script they never wrote.
They expect the other person to know what they need without having to say it, and when that doesn’t happen, disappointment sets in.
But there’s an even more uncomfortable question: did that person really disappoint you… or did the version of them you built up in your head disappoint you? A healthy relationship isn’t built on guessing what the other person should do.
Esa frase del guión que la otra persona nunca escribió describe perfecto lo que nos pasa a todos. A veces pretendemos que el otro adivine sin dar la receta de lo que sentimos y nos terminamos decepcionando solos. Probé a dejar de asumir cosas en mi vida y el cambio fue genial.
