Challenge: “Exquisite poetic corpse” No. 4/ Reto: “Cadáver exquisito poético” Nº 4

in Dream Steem • 4 days ago (edited)
I am excited about this literary challenge, known as an "exquisite corpse" (or *cadavre exquis*), in which—following a surrealist approach—we will write individual lines that, ultimately, will take the form of a poem.

What will we be doing, and what are we inviting you to do?

1.- We will provide a few opening lines for the poem, with the final word placed in parentheses to serve as a reference point for continuing the piece.

2.- Participants may write as many lines as they wish (a minimum of three) and then invite another user to continue the exercise. Do not forget to place the last word in parentheses, so that it may serve as the reference for the verses to be written next.

3.- If a user has already contributed lines but wishes to participate again, they are more than welcome to do so.

A FEW REQUESTS:

1.- Please write your contribution in English first, followed by your native language.

2.- Try to be creative!

What do you gain by participating?

Weisser-rabe will distribute 500 SP over the course of a month to those who join the challenge. Additionally, you may receive upvotes from curation teams.

We will begin with these lines:

The night unearths its throat of ice,
tracing blind verses upon the ground;
the fragile shroud of light melts away in the sky.

Clocks are lost upon the lips... in a rush,
The dead alphabet walks along the ledge...
and a quartz bird awakens (done).<@aplausos>

Note: I asked @aplausos to write a few lines to kick off this fourth edition .

Sort:

Facts, not rights,
impossible to change.
Unwanted experiences,
a distance that makes me cry.
Echoes that reverberate—
I don’t want to hear them anymore.
Remember, remember…
bills I have to pay. (Pain)

Hechos no derechos,
imposibles de cambiar.
Experiencias no deseadas,
distancia que me hace llorar.
Ecos que retumban,
ya no los quiero escuchar.
Recordar, recordar…
facturas que he de pagar. (Dolor)

(Pain) was what she felt when she saw herself alone; the actions of her loved ones would be like daggers
It was impossible to sustain such (ignominy)

(Dolor) era lo que sentía cuando se veía sola; las acciones de sus seres queridos serían como dagas.
Era imposible soportar tal (ignominia).

Pain and agony
beneath its wings
The bird hides the salt key
to the trunk where the verses sleep.
Until the daring wind
dares to carry it away…

The others wait for the verses to rain down.
For now, the rain is only (silence)

Dolor y agonía
bajo sus alas
El pájaro oculta la llave de sal
del baúl donde duermen los versos.
Hasta que el viento atrevido
osa llevarla consigo…

Los otros esperan que lluevan los versos.
Por ahora la lluvia es solo (silencio).

Silence perceived in the wind,
voices whispering happiness,
instants allowing memories,
moments that renew themselves,
memory that remains latent,
under a nostalgia left ( behind )
Spanish
Silencio percibido en el viento,
voces que susurran felicidad,
instantes que dan lugar a recuerdos,
momentos que se renuevan,
memoria que permanece latente,
bajo una nostalgia que ha quedado ( atrás )

behind I left the echoes of a name I used to be,

but the quartz bird still guards my verses faithfully,

waiting for a wind brave enough to set them (free)

To free them belongs to a brave spirit,
decision and courage in a human being;
a soul of strong character and overflowing fire,
a being who awakens (admiration)
Spanish
Liberarlos es propio de un espíritu valiente,
de decisión y coraje en un ser humano;
un alma de carácter firme y fuego desbordante,
un ser que despierta ( admiración )

admiration that is earned
admiration that stems from one’s own actions
admiration that cannot be bought
that evokes satisfaction and gratitude
a collection of genuine and sincere ( respect )
Spanish
admiración que se gana
admiración que nace de las propias acciones
admiración que no se puede comprar
que evoca satisfacción y gratitud
una colección de genuino y sincero (respeto)

Respect, passion, devotion
fulfill the lovers'souls
when they tighten their hearts
becoming only one
once they decide to continue
their paths together and (forever)

Respeto, pasión, devoción
colman las almas de los amantes
cuando unen sus corazones
y se convierten en uno solo,
una vez que deciden seguir
sus caminos juntos y (para siempre)

"United forever,"
said the priest.
But time stirred the demons within my body.
And in the early hours, I would drift along shadowy rivers.
My eyes were shards of a (passionate) necrosis.

"Unidos para siempre"
dijo el sacerdote.
Pero el tiempo estremeció los demonios de mi cuerpo.
Y en las madrugadas navegaba por ríos sombríos
Mis ojos eran esquirlas de una necrosis (pasional).

My heart spoke in its own intimate language—
free,
without regrets,
with no gods to sit in judgment—
and I,
a subject to its desires,
(obeyed).

Mi corazón hablaba en su lenguaje intimo
libre
Sin remordimientos
sin dioses que lo juzguen
y yo
súbdito de sus deseos
(obedecía).

Invito a @marcybetancourt.

Gracias por apoyar esta aventura poetica

That’s lovely – the community really has a knack for poetry ;-))

As I wrote to you, with immediate effect I’m limiting delegations of 500SP for a period of one month to a maximum of 1,000SP at any one time per participant. Everyone can, of course, take part as often as one like – unfortunately, my resources are limited ;-))

Don’t worry, @weisser-rabe; I feel that people participate out of a love for poetry, rather than for the sake of the SP. I hope the poems continue to receive votes, so that the rewards can be shared among everyone.

I'm sure we will have all support we need!
